The arrangement ensures that the price strip cannot be accidentally detached and can be moved out of the way when a drum is charged. <IMAGE>
Description
Sales and display stand with movable price strip
The invention relates to a sales and display stand for chains, hoses, cables, sheets and foils and similar goods sold by the metre and coilable on drums.
Such a sales stand consists of at least two side holders, at least two end longitudinal holders carrying at least one drum spindle and extending substantially perpendicularly to the drum spindle, and a price strip which is movable to facilitate the changing or loading and unloading of drums.
The previous sales stands have proven themselves very well in practice because they present to the customer chains, cables, hoses or other goods sold by the metre at a level convenient to him and with a safety bolt cutter after unwinding the selected design material of the drum and measurement using an available measuring scale the customer was able to cut off "his" length of the continuous material of the goods sold by the metre.
Since in sales rooms usually a large number of sales stands usually each having several drums with different materials are employed, it was essential to simplify the loading and removal of the drums from the sales stands.
With the existing sales stands for this purpose the price rail had to be removed from the sales stand by unlocking and detaching. This is complicated and does not meet the technical safety requirements.
Furthermore, experience has shown that price strips locked by spring bolt can be released by unintentional intervention and cause injury to personnel and the customer when the goods are removed. In particular, unlocking of the price strip by knocking the latter was possible and the price strip could thus be released by a passing customer.
It has further been found in practice that existing sales stand constructions have inadequate lateral stability.
It was for example possible, by pressure on the side holders, to bend a level laterally to such an extent that the entire display array was bent in the lateral direction, as occurred for example due to a customer leaning on the sales stand or pushing past the display stand.
Finally, for technical safety reasons the price strip had to be firmly connected to the respective level.
An objective of the invention is therefore to firmly connect the price strip of the sales and display stand to the level of the respective drum and to increase the lateral stability of the sales stand.
This problem is solved by a sales and display stand according to claim 1. The price strip of the sales and display stand is mounted on at least two price strip holders extending perpendicularly to said strip and forming a unit therewith. Said price strip holders are slidingly connected to the end longitudinal holders between a retracted position and an extended position along the common longitudinal axis of the respective end longitudinal holder and the respective price strip holder, the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders being pivotal in the extended position relatively to the longitudinal axes of the end longitudinal holders (13, 14), and fixable in the retracted position. This has the advantage that the sales stand is additionally stabilised when the price strip holders are retracted and on changing or loading the drums the price strip and the price strip holders mounted thereon cannot be removed from the sales stand.
In the extended position when changing a drum it is only possible to pivot the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders upwardly or downwardly.
In a particular further development of the invention the end longitudinal holders and the price strip holders consist of a first and a second profile body. The internal cross-section of the first profile body and the external cross-section of the second profile body are then respectively coincident perpendicularly to their common longitudinal axis. As a result, the profile or section body forming the price strip holder can slide to and fro in the internal profile of the profile body forming the end longitudinal holder. Due to the adapted internal and external cross-sections of the profile bodies practically no play is present between the end longitudinal holders and the price strip holders, and as a result lateral tilting is avoided when retracting and extending the price strip holders. Since however the price strip holders may be fixed in their retracted position to the end longitudinal holders of the sales stand, it is also sufficient to configure the price strip holders so that a slight play occurs between them and the end longitudinal holders.
For the pivoting of the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders in the extended position, at for example the ends of the end longitudinal holder facing the price strip a hinged means is integrally mounted, said unit thereby being pivotal in its extended position.
In another particularly preferred further development of the present invention the price strip holders each comprise a slot extending along their longitudinal axis and having a first and second end, a respective bolt integral with the respective end longitudinal holder extending through the slot of the price strip holder.
This makes a retracting and extending of the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders possible with a stop in the retracted position and a stop in the extended position. In the extended position the bolt is then at the second end of the slot. In this position the unit is pivotal freely upwardly and downwardly because the price strip holders are no longer aligned by the end longitudinal holders. By an additionally attached stop means on the end longitudinal holder it is possible to limit the pivot range upwardly or downwardly.
Since in the extended position of the price strip holders the bolt comes into engagement with the first end of the slot and is pivotal relatively to the end longitudinal holder, the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders cannot be removed from the sales stands, as is necessary for technical safety and security reasons. A rectilinear reciprocal movement of the price strip unit limited by two stops is made possible by the cooperation of the slot with the bolt and at the same time, when the slot engages the bolt on reaching the extended position, a pivoting of the price strip unit can be effected. With this new construction, with a small number of simple components a versatile mobility of the price strip unit is ensured.
The hinged means on the end longitudinal holder is preferably a hinged plate which is secured with rivets to the end of the end longitudinal holder, wherein a threaded bolt is led through a hole in the hinge metal plate, the bolt extending in the direction of the pivot axis of the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders. Instead of a riveted-on hinge plate with a hole, a hole may also be provided directly in the end region of the end longitudinal holder through which the bolt serving as axis is passed. To ensure that the price strip holder is freely pivotal in its extended position the end longitudinal holder must comprise corresponding cutouts in its end region.
As bolt, a threaded bolt for example or a countersunk screw may be used which extends through the slot of the price strip holders and is provided with a first and second washer on both sides of the price strip holder and can be screwed into and out of an end region of the end longitudinal holder with internal thread to fix or release the price list holder. As a result, the unit consisting of the price strip and the price strip holders can be fixed in any position between the retracted and the extended position. Preferably a combination of a steel washer and a plastic washer is used for the washers.
Alternatively, the countersunk screw may have a nut. The countersunk screw then extends from its head through the hinge plate or the hole in the end region of the end longitudinal holder, through the first washer, through the slot in the price strip holder and through the second slot and is held at its end by the nut.
A high adaptability of the sales and display stand of the present invention is further achieved in that the side holders can be infinitely variably extended by side holder extensions. Also, the level width B available for accommodating drums may also be infinitely variably adjusted by an inner strut sliding in an outer hollow strut.
The price strip preferably includes a tongue which can be lifted from the price strip against an application pressure bias, and a price tab foil which may also include a measuring tape scale and illustrations. The price tab foil is held firmly on the price strip by the application pressure bias of the tongue.
Further advantages, features and possible uses of the present invention will be apparent from the following drawings, wherein:

Fig. 6 shows the perspective view of the sales and display stand of Fig. 1 without drums.
Description of the Figures
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the sales and display stand according to the invention comprising a drum. This is one storey or "level" of such a sales stand. The sales stand is mounted by a left and a right side holder 1, 2 on a mounting rail which is mounted on a wall. As can be seen in the Figure, the side holders can be easily suspended and removed in and from the mounting rail provided with holes. The left and right side holders 1, 2 are each extendable by a left and right side holder extension 5, 6. The side holder extension 5, 6 has a longitudinal slot by which it can be secured to the side holder 1, 2 by a screw, a washer 8 and a nut 9 and fixed thereon. Preferably, for each side holder extension 5, 6 two respective adjacently disposed screws 7 extending through the slot, washers 8 and nuts 9 are employed. An end longitudinal holder 13, 14 is secured to the respective extended side holder 1, 2. In the end region of the end longitudinal holder or roller holder 13, 14 a respective hinge plate 26 is secured by rivets 29, 30.
Since the end longitudinal holder 13, 14 consists of a hollow profile, blind rivets are preferably used for this mounting. The price strip 22 and the price strip holders 27, 28 form an integral unit. Said unit is extendable and retractable in the end longitudinal holders 13, 14 through slots 21 formed in the price strip holders 27, 28. A countersunk screw 19 mounted on the hinge plate 26 extends through the slot 21. This makes it possible to move the price strip unit 22, 27, 28 to and fro from an inner retracted position to an outer extended position.
In the outer position said unit 22, 27, 28 can be pivoted upwardly or downwardly. The price strip 22 comprises a price tab foil 23 with imprinted measurement scale 25.
Fig. 2 shows the sales and display stand in the exploded state both in plan view and in side elevation. Reference numerals also employed in Fig. 1 relate to the same components. Fig. 2 shows in particular slots 15 which are formed both in the left and in the right end longitudinal holders 13, 14. In addition, between the left and right end longitudinal holders 13, 14 further end longitudinal holders bearing on each other are shown, in which further longitudinal slots 15 are formed. Said slots 15 serve to receive roller journals 16 of the roller spindles which can carry a drum. At the ends of the end longitudinal holders remote from the roller spindles a strut 10 is mounted which consists of a transverse profile and extends perpendicularly to the end longitudinal holders, i.e. parallel to the roller spindles. A further strut 11 likewise consisting of a hollow profile is telescopically retractable in the strut 10. This permits an infinitely variable adjustment of the "level width" B of the sales stand.
Fig. 3 shows parts of the sales stand in plan view and in side elevation. The price strip holders 27, 28 of the price strip 22 are each held by a countersunk screw 19 which extends through the slot 21 of the price strip holders 27, 28. Considered from the screw head, the screw extends through the hinge plate 26, a first washer 20A, the price strip holder 27, 28 and a second washer 20B and terminates in a region of the end longitudinal holder 13, 14 provided with an internal thread, thereby permitting fixing of the displaceable price strip holder 27, 28 on the end longitudinal holder 13, 14. At the end of the price strip holder 27, 28 remote the slot 21 there is a transverse profile 17 onto which a price strip receiving plate 18 is welded. The hinge plate 26 secured to the end longitudinal holder 13, 14 by rivets 29, 30 comprises a hole through which the countersunk screw 19 extends. The price strip holder 27, 28 can be moved to and fro in its respective end longitudinal holder 13, 14 over a distance corresponding to the length of the slot 25. The price strip holder 27, 28 remains fixed against pivoting in a more or less retracted position whilst in its extended position it is pivotal relatively to the end longitudinal holder 13, 14. A drum 31 mounted in the sales stand is likewise shown in cross-section.
Fig. 4 shows a price list 22 and a price tab foil 23 with measuring scale 25 in plan view. In a side elevation of the price strip 22 a tongue 24 is shown which is lifted off the price strip against an application pressure bias and in the applied state (not shown) holds the price tab foil 23.
Fig. 5 shows part of the sales and display stand. The countersunk screw 19 is once again led through the hinge plate 26 and the slot 21 of the price strip holder 27, 28 but said screw is held by a nut 19'.
Fig. 6 again shows the sales and display stand of Fig. 1, but without drum.
