Description
2289292 "Skirting for running cables and for receiving electrical f
ittings 1' The skirting of the invention includes a back consisting of a member obtained by extrusion provided with longitudinal partitions delimiting compartments which are open on their upper face and a cover which f its onto this back so as to shut off the compartments, skirting characterized in that two of the neighbouring partitions delimiting a compartment are provided with means for receiving electrical fittings and that these partitions are provided with cutouts distributed over the length of the partitions and aligned transversely to the member, these cutouts emerging on the open f ace of the compartments.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the cover is made in three parts, a first flat part which fits onto the two neighbouring partitions so as to conceal the compartment receiving the electrical fittings at the locations where they do not have any and a second and a third part located on the back on either side of the f irst part, these second and third parts being made, in section, in the f orm. of a corner so as also to constitute the lateral sides of the skirting.
The invention is represented by way of non- limiting example in the single drawing attached which is a perspective view, partially cut away, of a skirting according to the invention.
The purpose of the present invention is consequently the production of a skirting which can receive electrical fittings such as power outlets, telephone outlets and the like, as well as the electrical supply and connection cables, these fittings and cables being arranged in separate compartments. This arrangement is moreover such that it is possible to move the electrical fittings and the cables without being obliged to disconnect these cables from their electrical fitting.
The skirting according to the invention is particularly advantageous in premises where it is required frequently to modify the arrangement of partitions in order to modify the distribution, area or layout of offices and other rooms in premises depending on the wishes of a new occupant.
The skirting represented in the attached drawings is composed of a back 1 consisting of a straight member obtained by extrusion of a plastic, this member having longitudinal partitions 2, 3, 4 and 5 obtained directly during the extrusion of the member. These partitions delimit compartments 6, 7, 8 and 9 whose width and height are determined by the dimensions of the electrical fittings 10 and 11 which are required to be fixed therein, as well as by the number and cross-section of the electrical conductors 12 and 13 which are required to be guided therein.
To this back 1 will be f itted a cover which, according to the example represented, is made in three parts 14, 15 and 16 made in such a way as to conceal the open faces of the compartments 6, 7, 8 and 9.
In accordance with the invention, the compartment 7 delimited by the two neighbouring partitions 2 and 3 is intended to receive the electrical fittings 10 and 11 and includes for this purpose means for receiving these fittings which, in the example represented, consist of grooves 2.1 and 3, capable of receiving snap-fit tongues 101 and 11, formed on the socket of the electrical fittings 10 and 11.
Provided along these snap-fit grooves 21, 3, are two other grooves 22,, 32 which are intended to receive the snap-fit tongues 14, provided on the inner face of the cover 14. This cover 14, also made from plastic, can thus be cut to the desired length so as to conceal the central compartment 7 of the skirting at the locations where it does not include any electrical fitting 10 and 11.
In accordance with the invention, the totality of the partitions 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the back 1 is provided with cutouts 17 regularly distributed along each partition and aligned transversely to the longitudinal axis of the member from one partition to another. These cutouts 0 i_ a emerge at 17, on the upper open f ace of the compartments so as to allow the cables 12 and 13 to be run from one of the compartments to its neighbour.
This arrangement makes it possible rapidly and simply to modify the position of the fittings 10 and 11 along the compartment 7 of the skirting without being obliged to disconnect the conductors 12 and 13, given that it is possible to remove these fittings with their cables by extracting them f rom the cutouts 17 and then to replace these fittings at the desired location by rehousing the cables in the neighbouring compartment 6 or 8 by way of the cutouts 17 available at this location.
According to the example represented, the cover in three parts 14. 15, 16 comprises the central part 14 which will be fitted over the opening of the compartment 7 intended for the electrical fittings and two cover parts 15 and 16 arranged on either side of the compartment 14 so as to shut of f the compartment 6 and the compartments 8 and 9 respectively.
These covers 15 and 16 are made, in section, in the shape of canted corners and constitute via their edges 15.1 and 161 the lateral sides of the skirting whilst the sides 15., 162 will be f itted over the top of the skirting along the electrical fittings and the central part 14 of the cover.
These parts 15 and 16 of the cover are fixed onto the lateral edges of the back 1 and onto the upper edge of partitions via an assembly comprising snap-f it grooves and tongues 18.
