Abstract

A display sign includes a plaque (10) which has one or more dovetail shaped grooves on one side to enable it to be slidably interengaged with a dovetail rib on a mounting member (not shown). A front plate (11), bearing advertisements or other indicia is clipped on to the plaque and has a peg (18) which projects into aligned holes in the plaque and the mounting member so as to prevent disengagement of the plaque from the mounting member. The plaque may be attached to beer pump handles, font pillars and other parts of dispensing equipment. The plaque may be engaged on the mounting member in a number of different orientations. <IMAGE>

Description

DISPLAY DEVICE It is usual for beers on sale in public houses, bars and the like to be identified by advertising plaques which are attached to beer pump handles, font pillars or other parts of the dispensing equipment. There is often a need to be able to change the beer being dispensed from a particular pump or font and conventional plaques are not designed so as to allow easy interchange.
Similar problems can arise in respect of spirit dispensers or shelf labels in bars or in other retail outlets.
It is therefore one object of the present invention to provide a simple form of advertising plaque or label arrangement which will allow rapid changing of the plaque or label in use.
In accordance with the invention there is provided a display device comprising a mounting member and a plaque member having slidably interengageable connection means, and a front plate member having advertising or other display material depicted thereon and having a locking element thereon for engaging said plaque member and said mounting member so as to prevent slidable disengagement of the plaque member from the mounting member.
Preferably, the mounting member is provided with a dovetail or similar section rib and the plaque member has a matching dovetail or similar section slot to form said slidably interengageable means. The locking element is preferably in the form of an integral peg on the front plate, which extends through aligned holes in the plaque member and the mounting member.
The plaque member is preferably provided with two connection means enabling it to be mounted on the mounting member in two alternative orientations. Thus, where the plaque member has an elliptical outline, for example, it can be mounted on the mounting member with the major axis of the plaque member outline either horizontal (landscape orientation) or vertical (portrait orientation).
An example of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the rear view of a plaque member; Figure 2 a section through the plaque member with a front plate member in position thereon; Figure 3 shows a mounting member on which the plaque member and the front plate can be mounted; and Figure 4 is a fragmentary section on line 4.4 in Figure 1.
The plaque member 10 shown is of elliptical outline and has a recessed front face to receive the front plate 11. Slots 12 in the plaque member receive integrally moulded clip portions 13 on the back of the front plate, which retain the front plate 11 on the plaque member 10, with snap action.
On the back of the plaque member there are two moulded dovetail section slots 14, 15 running respectively along the minor and major axes of the outline of the plaque member.
The plaque member and the front plate (on which there is depicted advertising on other display material) can be mounted on a mounting member 16 as shown in Figure 3. This mounting member 16 has a dovetail section rib 17. The rib 17 is shaped to slide snugly into either of the dovetail section slots 14, 15 provided in the back of the plaque member 10.
There is a moulded peg 18 provided at the centre of the back of the front plate 11. This peg extends through a hole 19 in the plaque member 10 into a hole 20 in the mounting member 16. This prevents the plaque member from being disengaged from the mounting member.
It will be appreciated that it is a very simple matter for the front plate to be changed whenever required. It is only necessary for the user to free the clip members 13 from their snap engagement with the plaque member. If the orientation of the plaque member has to be changed for the new front plate it can now easily be slipped off the mounting member, turned and re-engaged before fitting the new front plate member to lock the assembly together again.
Although the mounting member 16 is shown as a clamp for mounting on a beer pump handle, it will be appreciated that it could alternatively be an adaptor for fitting in a window in an existing font pillar, a shelf mountable clip or a bottle neck clip or clamp. It could alternatively take other forms.

Claims (5)

1. A display device comprising a mounting member and a plaque member having slidably interengageable connection means, and a front plate member having advertising or other display material depicted thereon and having a locking element thereon for engaging said plaque member and said mounting member so as to prevent slidable disengagement of the plaque member from the mounting member.
2. A display device as claimed in Claim 1 in which the mounting member is provided with a dovetail or similar section rib and the plaque member has a matching dovetail or similar section slot to form said slidably interengageable means.
3. A display device as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, in which the locking element is in the form of an integral peg on the front plate which extends through aligned holes in the plaque member and the mounting member.
4. A display device as claimed in any preceding claim in which the plaque member is formed with two connection means enabling it to be mounted on the mounting member in two alternative orientations.
5. A display device substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
