DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
Figure 1 is a schematic view of a glass door having one aspect of an assembly as disclosed herein mounted thereon. The door 10 has a glass body and the assembly forms the frame 12 of the door. The individual parts of the assembly cannot be seen in this Figure, and will be discussed below. The right side of the frame 14 has a handle portion for opening the door 10. The door 10 may be mounted to a merchandising refrigeration cabinet.
Advertising material 16 is inserted into the frame 12 as will be described below.
Figure 2 shows a schematic view of a solid door 20, with the assembly mounted on the door 20 as a frame around the perimeter of the door. Advertising material 16 in the frame 12.
Figure 3 shows a light box 22 of the type for a merchandising refrigeration cabinet. It will be appreciated that the light box is not necessarily limited to such a use. The light box 22 is conventional to the extent that it has a back lit advertisement. However, the light box 22 further has an assembly as disclosed herein mounted thereto so as to provide additional advertising material 16 in all four sides of the frame 12.
The light box 23 of Figure 4 is similar to that shown in Figure 3 except that an assembly as disclosed herein is mounted to each end of the light box 23. Thus advertising material 16 in the frame 12 is only displayed at each end of the light box 22. At one end of the light box, the linear display member 24 is shown disengaged from the support.
Figure 5 shows the lower section of the door 10 with the support 26 and linear display member 24 parts of the assembly 19 separated. It can be seen that the support 26 forms the main body of the frame 12. The linear display member 24 has been slidingly removed from the support 26. Advertising material 16 is received within the linear display member 24.
Figure 6 is a schematic perspective view of one part of the assembly 19 that is mounted as a frame around the top and bottom edges and hinge side edge of the door as shown in Figure 1. Figure 7 is an end view of the support 26 shown in Figure 6 that more clearly shows the overall profile of the support 26.
The support 26 is an aluminium extrusion with an engagement part that has a profile with a channel 28. The channel 28 has side walls 30, 32 and an inwardly facing longitudinal recess 34, 36 runs along each side wall 30, 32.
The linear display member has an engagement part with a profile comprising ribs 38, 40 that are of substantially circular cross section that extend along each side of the linear display member 24 (more clearly seen in Figure 9). The recesses 34, 36 and ribs 38, 40 are configured to be complimentary to other. This allows the engagement part of linear display member 24 to slide within recesses 34, 36 of the engagement part of the support 26.
The support 26 also includes lower channels 8, 9 for receiving the edge of the glass door panel and for providing electrical conduits as is known in the art of refrigeration cabinets.
Figure 6 also shows LED lights 42 located on the base of the channel 28 for backlighting the advertising material 16.
Figure 8 shows a section 44 of that part of the assembly that forms the right hand side part of the frame 12 of the door 10 in Figure 1 that comprises the handle part. The linear display member 24 is identical to that shown in Figure 6. The support 24a has a different overall profile to the support 24 shown in Figure 6. The end view of the support 44 is shown in Figure 9.
Support 44 has an upper channel 46 that has opposing side walls 46, 48. Walls 46, 48 have inwardly facing longitudinal recesses 50, 52 that have the same configuration as the recesses 34, 36 of the support 26 as shown in Figure 6. Thus the same linear display member 24 may be used with either support.
The support 44 has a finger grip recess 54 for operation of the support 44 handle to open the door 10. The upper wall 56 of the finger grip recess 54 provides an internal wall within the channel 46 that can support a LED light strip as shown in Figure 8.
Figure 9 also shows an end view of the linear display member 24. The linear display member is made from an extruded thermoplastics material and is substantially transparent.
The linear display member 24 has opposed ribs 38, 40 running along opposed sides thereof as discussed above. The linear display member 24 has a curved body 60 from which ribs 38, 40 project. Each rib 38, 40 has an inwardly facing projection 72, 74. An elongate recess 76, 78 is defined between each projection 72, 74 and the lower surface of the body 60.
The curvature of the body 60 allows the information to be forward of the substrate upon which the support is mounted.
Figure 10 shows a detail of the linear display member 24 and the advertising material 16. The advertising material 16 is in the form of a plastics insert 66 that is retained in place by means of the opposed edges of the insert 66 being retained within recesses 76, 78 of the linear display member. A decal 68 has been applied to the insert. The plastics insert 68 is suitably translucent or transparent so as to allow for backlighting.
The plastics insert 68 is suitably substantially rigid and curved with an outwardly facing convex contour complimentary to that of the body 60 of the linear display member. The rigidity of the plastics insert allows the insert to be easily fed into an end of the linear display member and to slide therealong. The underside of the insert 68 between the projections 72, 74 is exposed that allows a user to contact the underside for sliding the inert 68 along the linear display member 24.
After the insert 68 is in place within the linear display member 24, the member 24 is then slid into place on the support.
Figure 11 shows an alternate linear display member 24a in which there is an enclosed space 80 for receiving an insert 68.
Figure 12 shows a still further alternate linear display member 24b that does not receive any insert and information material may be printed, adhered to or otherwise mounted on the front surface of the body 60.
It may be appreciated that when the support is mounted to a substrate, the linear display member can easily be removed allowing the insert to be replaced.
It will be appreciated that the assembly of the present invention allows information to be readily replaced in an easy and efficient manner. It also allows the advertising footprint to be increased.
The assembly also allows for a user to personalise a refrigeration cabinet or any other suitable substrate. In another aspect, the information can convey information regarding contents of a refrigeration cabinet.
It will be appreciated that various changes and/or modifications may be made to the invention as disclosed and claimed herein without parting from the spirit and scope thereof.
