Abstract

A chopstick clip comprises two hollow arms A and B of variable internal diameter by means of which a pair of chopsticks, E and F, can be joined together. The application of pressure along the sides of the chopsticks causes the clip to assume the position shown in Figure 2. Tension is provided at the joint C so that when pressure on the chopsticks is released they return to the position shown in Figure 1. <IMAGE>

Description

CHOPSTICK CLIP This invention relates to a clip for a pair of chopsticks.
Many people, Westerners especially, have difficulty using chopsticks.
This very simple device will, by effectively converting the two chopsticks into a single implement, enable any person to use them efficiently.
According to the present invention there is provided a clip by means of which a pair of chopsticks can be joined together, means of gripping chopsticks of varying diameters, the clip acting as a spring joint allowing the protruding parts of the chopsticks to be moved towards each other against'the tension offered by this joint.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the clip in profile attached to the chopsticks, in the 'open' position.
Figure 2 shows the clip in profile attached to the chopsticks, in the 'closed' position.
Figure 3 shows the clip in perspective.
Referring to the drawing the clip comprises two arms, A and B, joined at C. The arms are hollow to allow a chopstick to be inserted. A slot, D, in each arm enables chopsticks of varying diameter to be gripped tightly therein.
With no pressure on the chopsticks the clip will remain in the position shown in Figure 1, the 'open' position.
When pressure is applied to the chopsticks they will move towards each other as shown in Figure 2, against the tension in the clip.
Removing pressure from the chopsticks will return them to the position shown in Figure 1, this movement being provided by the tension in the clip.

Claims (3)

1. A clip, by means of which a pair of chopsticks can be joined together, comprising two arms for gripping the chopsticks, and a flexible joint allowing the protruding parts of the chopsticks to be moved towards each other against the resistance offered by the joint.
2. A clip as claimed in Claim 1 wherein each arm is slotted, or whose internal diameter can be varied by whatever means, in order to grip the chopsticks tightly, thereby enabling chopsticks of varying diameters to be accommodated.
3. A clip substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
