Stop-gear operated by driver leaving his seat. -Relates to safety brakes for vehicles of the type in which the brakes o are connected to a pivoted seat c which, when vacated by the driver rises under the influence of springs d and applies the brakes automatically. According to the invention, the bell-crank lever j which operates the brakes o is connected to the seat c bv a rigid or flexible member h and a rigid member f, the members h, f being connected together by a knuckle joint g and the member f being connected rigidly to the seat c. The springs d are kept in place by studs e. The seat c may be held down by a bolt p engaging holes in the rigid member f.
