Abstract
A release backing sheet 2 carries adhesive masks of pvc, each mask corresponding to the complete shape and size of a typical finger nail or longitudinal half size of finger nail and defining an aperture 6 within the centre or edge and having an edge flap 3, 4 for grasping when the mask is removed from the sheet and when it is finally removed from nail. For decorating a finger or toe nail the method comprises applying varnish to the nail through the edge aperture, then immediately peeling away the mask from nail. <IMAGE>
Description
DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION Improvement in or relating to an apparatus for and Method of Decorating Finger-nails"
THE PRESENT INVENTION relates to a mask for, and a method of decorating finger and toe nail Instantly.
According to this invention there is provided an instant mask dimensioned to be attached to a finger or toe nail, the instant mask defining at least one aperture therein or within.
The instant mask is made of a pvc carrier, one side coated with rubber resin adhesive.
Conveniently the mask has a terminal flap,
The mask may be mounted on a backing-sheet.
Preferably the backing-sheet is a siliconised backing- sheet.
The invention also relates to an element comprising a plurality of instant masks as described above, dimensioned to fit finger or toenail of a typical person, the masks being mounted on a single backing-sheet.
According to another aspect of the invention there is provided an element comprising a release backingsheet, the release backing-sheet carrying a plurality of elements of pvc coated rubber resin adhesive material, each element of self-adhesive material comprising an area corresponding to the shape and size of a typical fingernail each instant mask defining an aperture within that area, each instant mask having a flap portion.
Preferably the element may carry 13 masks, in 3 sizes.
Conveniently the instant masks are cut from a single strip of pvc carrier one side coated with resin adhesive, applied to the baking-sheet.
This invention relates to a quicker method of decorating a finger and toenail, the method comprising the steps of applying to the finger or toe - nail, an instant mask having an aperture therein or within, applying to the finger or toenail, through the aperture, nail varnish or the like, and immediately removing the instant mask from the finger or toe nail,
The instant mask is a self-adhesive mask.
Conveniently the self-adhesive instant mask is initially attached to a release backing-sheet, the method comprising the first step of peeling the instant mask from the release backing-sheet before it is applied to the finger or toenail.
Advantageously the instant mask is provided with a longitudinal flap, the mask being grasped by said flap, first when it is removed from the backing-sheet, and secondly when it is finally removed from the fingernail.
In order that the invention may be more readily understood, the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which.
FIGURE 1 is a view of the element when stamped and ready for use,
FIGURE 2 is a perspective view illustrating a mask removed from the element of Figure 1 and applied to a finger or toe nail, ready for the application of nail varnish, and
FIGURE 3 illustrates the fingernail when nail varnish has been applied and the instant mask has been removed immediately after varnish application.
Referring initially to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings, an element is illustrated comprising sheet 1 of siliconised paper or the like to which is attached a rubber resin adhesive coated strip 2 a pvc carrier which has longitudinal edges 3,4 which thus comprise flaps. The siliconised paper 1 acts as a release backingsheet.
The pattern of cuts is shown in Figure 1 and it can be seen that 13 separate instant masks areas S Have been defined, each terminating adjacent one flap, the area's 5 corresponding in shape and size to the fingernail of a typical person. Each area 5 is provided with its own flap constituted by the adjacent part of the edges of the mask,
Each of the areas 5 has an aperture 6 therein. In the illustrated embodiment each aperture 6 is in the form of a heart-shape, but an aperture of any convenient shape may be provided. Indeed, a plurality of apertures may be provided within each area 5,advantageously the edges of the instant mask can be shaped, eg, zigzag or a single narrow straight strips to outline the nail.
When the mask are to be utilised in conjunction with the decoration of a finger or toenail, the person utilising the masks will initially grasp the flap 3 or 4, Immediately adjacent one of the areas 5 or six, of the self-adhesive strip 2, will peel that area 5 or six of the self-adhesive tape 2 away from the siliconised backing-sheet 1, and will thus be holding a self-adhesive mask adapted to be mounted directly upon a finger or toenail. The stencil mask can be mounted on a finger or toenail 7, as illustrated in Figure 3, with the flap portion protruding beyond the free end of the nail.
The mask 5 will be smoothed down on the nail, so that the shaped edges will be adhered firmly to the nail aperture 6.
Nail varnish may then be applied to the fingernail over the aperture 6 formed in the mask's 5.
Strait-after varnish has been applied, the instant mask may be removed from the fingernail simply by gripping the protruding flap 3 and pulling the mask away from the fingernail. The fingernail then has the appearance shown in Figure 4 .
This procedure is per nail,
The adhesive utilised on the adhesive strip 2 is selected so that it will adhere the instant mask relatively firmly to the fingernail, while permitting the mask to be peeled away from the fingernail without undue difficulty when the nail varnish has been applied to the finger or toenail,
The pvc carrier mask coated rubber resin adhesive is selected so that it is not attacked by conventional nail varnish.
As per reference the mask can be applied on top of a varnished nail, so the pvc carrier mask with coated rubber resin adhesive is selected so that the nail varnish will not be destroyed when applying nail varnish through the aperture,
The instant mask is a pvc carrier, coated rubber resin adhesive, is selected so it will not peel the existing nail varnish on nails, when peeling mask away from finger nail,
The instant mask is a pvc carrier, coated rubber resin adhesive is selected so the adhesive will not remain on nail, when mask is removed away from fingernail or toenail, after varnish application.
While the invention has been described with reference to one embodiment it is to be appreciated that the masks of the invention may define one or more aperture of any convenient shape, It is envisaged that the instant masks on any one sheet need not all carry the same shaped aperture.
While the invention has been described with reference to one embodiment it is to be appreciated that the instant masks of invention may define apertures any were within area 5,
While it is very convenient to provide 13 instant masks on a single sheet as described above, the instant masks may be provided in sets of five masks on a sheet or may even be provided totally separately.
