Abstract

The security strap has a non-removable coated personal identification label, the purpose of which is to show instantly that items, i.e. luggage, cartons, parcels or similar, have not been tampered with during transit from one destination to another thus giving instant assurance to a collector that nothing could have been taken or added during the time in which the item was not in the presence of the owner or their legal representative. <IMAGE>

Description

SECURITY STRAP GENERAL DESCRIPTION THE INVENTION COMPRISES OF A LONG, NARROW FLEXIBLE STRIP, WHICH ENCIRCLES THE ITEM TO BE TRANSPORTED, AND HAS A CLASP TYPE BUCKLE (2) AT ONE END. AT THE OTHER END OF THE STRAP THERE IS A SERIES OF STRATEGICALLY PLACED HOLES WHICH PASS THROUGH THE BUCKLE AND SNAP TO A LOCKED POSITION.
THE BUCKLE THEN IS ENCIRCLED BY A NON-REMOVABLE PERSONALLY MARKED TAMPER INDICATIVE LABEL (3).
THE STRAP (1) MAY ALSO BE OF A SHORTER AND NARROWER TYPE (1A) CAPABLE OF SECURING ZIP FASTENERS, i.e. FOR ZIPPED LUGGAGE OR BAGGAGE.
SECURITY STRAP DETAILED DESCRIPTION ITEM 1 THE STRAP A FLEXIBLE STRAP OF SUITABLE LENGTH, PUNCHED WITH STRATEGICALLY PLACED HOLES ALONG PART OR ALL OF ITS LENGTH, TO FIT OVER THE PROJECTION ON THE BUCKLE (ITEM 2) AND GIVE ADJUSTMENT FOR SIZE OF PACKAGE.
ITEM la THE ZIPPER STRAP THIS IS A SIMILAR BUT SMALLER VERSION OF 1 ABOVE PUNCHED WITH JUST TWO HOLES AND INTENDED FOR SECURING ZIP ENDS ON SPORTS BAGS/SOFT LUGGAGE.
AGAIN THE ZIPPER STRAP BUCKLE WOULD HAVE THE NON-REMOVABLE COATING CARRYING A SIGNATURE/ IDENTIFICATION MARK.
SECURITY STRAP DETAILED DESCRIPTION (CONTINUED) ITEM 2 THE BUCKLE THE BUCKLE CONSISTING OF A PLASTIC TWO-PART HINGED ARRANGEMENT HAVING A CLIP WHICH ACTS TO SECURE THE STRAP AND THE TWO-PART BUCKLE TOGETHER.
WITHIN THE BUCKLE IS A RATCHET TO FACILITATE ADJUSTMENT OF THE STRAP (ITEM 1). ALSO INCORPORATED IN THE BUCKLE IS AN ARRANGEMENT TO 'HOUSE' THE ZIPPER STRAP (ITEM la) [OPTION 1] AND A DEVICE FOR SECURING TWO ZIPPER TAGS TOGETHER [OPTION 2].
SECURITY STRAP DETAILED DESCRIPTION (CONTINUED) ITEM 3 COATED PERSONAL SECURITY LABEL THE LABEL IS PERSONALLY, INDIVIDUALLY MARKED EITHER BY SIGNATURE OR BAR CODE OR MARK. THE LABEL WRAPS AROUND AND ADHERES TO THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF THE FASTENED AND ADJUSTED (ITEM 2) BUCKLE ASSEMBLY.

  1. SECURITY STRAP
    CLAIMS 1. A DEVICE FOR SEALING A PACKAGE, LUGGAGE ETC., WHEREIN ANY ATTEMPT TO TAMPER WITH OR REMOVE THE DEVICE WOULD BE READILY DETECTABLE. THE SIGNATURE, MARK OR CODE PREVENTING THE RESEALING OF SAID PACKAGE WITH A SIMILAR DEVICE.
  2. 2. A DEVICE ACCORDING TO CLAIM 1, WHEREIN THE PACKAGE IS ENCIRCLED BY A STRONG FLEXIBLE STRAP.
  3. 3. A DEVICE ACCORDING TO CLAIM 1, SEALED BY A SHORTER STRAP, SECURING ZIP TAGS TOGETHER OR TO ANY OTHER PROJECTION, e.g. HANDLES.
  4. 4. A DEVICE ACCORDING TO CLAIM 1 WITH A STRAP TO SECURE BAG OR CASE HANDLES TOGETHER.
  5. 5. A DEVICE SUBSTANTIALLY AS HEREIN DESCRIBED WITH REFERENCE TO AND AS ILLUSTRATED IN THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
  6. 6. ANY NOVEL FEATURE DISCLOSED HEREIN OR IN THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
