228,192. Poitrineau, A., and Gonsard, L. Jan. 26, 1924, [Convention date]. Puncture or deflation, indicating.- A deflation alarm comprises a piston and a striker normally held apart by a spring which, on deflation, actuates the striker to fire a cartridge. In the form shown, the striker A is held in the inoperative position by a pair of balls G which are forced into engagement with a shoulder on the casing M by the stem of the piston D. On deflation, the spring F first raises the piston D, thus allowing the balls G to come away from the wall of the casing, and then forces the head E of the striker into contact with the detonator I. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which the ball device is replaced by a leaf-spring the ends of which are normally locked in grooves or notches in the casing wall. When the piston rises, owing to deflation of the tyre, the pressure of the main spring is sufficient. to free the ends of the leaf spring for the actuation of the striker; and also, a further modification in which the striker is normally held in the cocked position owing to the eccentric bore of the piston. On deflation, the piston becomes separated from the striker E, which then assumes axial alignment and is actuated by the spring to explode the cartridge. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
