Abstract
A greetings card which incorporates within its design or construction, seeds of flowering and ornamental plants. The card has space for greetings, verse and seed planting instructions (11, 12). The design portion (13) would include the seeds or they would be included in the card construction. The seeds may be surface-mounted by adhesive (Fig. 2) or by sealing with plastics film (Fig. 4). Alternatively the seeds may be pressed into the card surface (Fig. 3) or contained within layers of the card construction. As a further alternative the seeds may be in a packet with a tear-off tab (17, Fig. 10). The card may be impregnated with the scent, fragrance or perfume of the flower. <IMAGE>
Description
GREETING SEED CARDS
This invention relates to a Greetings Card that incorporates within it's design or construction, seeds of flowers, shrubs, grasses, herbs or ornamental plants and the like.
Greeting cards, for many years have been a traditional means of conveying greetings to friends and relations via the postal service for Aniversaries and special occassions.
They are conventionally made from card, folded into two halves, which by adjustment of the halves of card, normally make the card self-standing in either the vertical or horizontal plane.
Printed with design, picture and text to suit a particular occasion.
These cards are normally disposed of when the occasion is over.
This present invention relates to a greetings seed card, which would provide greetings for the day of the occasion, plus incorporated into the design, text or card construction, would be suitable seeds of flowering or ornamental plants, herbs and the like, which after the special occasion, the portion of card containing the seeds could be planted in either garden, pot or planter, inside or outside, to mark and remember the occasion by a future display of flowers, plants or similar which has grown from the card seeds.
The card would be constructed from paper, card or similar bio-degradable material which would break down by the addition of water.
The card could also contain within it's design or construction a suitable growing medium which when planted and watered as per card instructions, would gradually breakdown letting the moisture and growing medium incorporated, provide the necessary moist compost that seeds require to germinate.
As some seeds require light conditions and others dark to germinate, the front cover or a suitable flap on the cards, could be utilised to fold across the portion containing the seeds.
Made from clear plastic or similar material for the seeds needing light and solid material for the seeds needing dark conditions. The card covers would also prevent loss of moisture important to seed germination.
With the addition of a suitable envelope these seed cards could be sent by post as any normal greeting card.
Various embodiments of the invention will now be discribed by way of example only, with references to the accompaning drawings in which:
Fig. 1 Is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the invention,
displayed in it's self-standing position.

construction.

layers of the card construction.
Fig. 6 Is a similar view to fig. 2 showing:- seeds sealed within layers
of the card construction containing a suitable growing medium.

sealed as fig. 6 in corrigated card construction.
Fig. 8 Is a similar view to fig. 2 to fig. 7 showing a portion of the
card as a clear see-through cover or flap, applicable to any or
all of previous embodiments fig. 2 to fig. 7.

packet of seeds attached to surface of card.
Fig.1O Is a similar view to fig. 5 to fig. 7 showing:- prepacked sealed

section.
Referring to drawings, a greetings seed card and the like, according to a first embodiment is shown in perspective view fig. 1, a rectangular or similar shaped card, folded into two halves which will support itself by adjusting the two halves 11. 12 to support each other in either the vertical or horitzontal plane.
A appropriate picture or disign with suitable seeds 13, verse and text, would be displayed on one or more of the card surfaces to suit greetings occasion and design requirements.
Fig. 2 illustrates a section view of the card laid flat with seeds 13 shown surface mounted by a suitable adhesive.
Fig. 3 to fig. 7 illustrates similar sections showing different methods of mounting, securing, sealing and incorporating the necessary seeds into either the card design, text or construction, with or without suitable growing medium.
Fig. 8 illustrates the card laid flat with cover or front flap 1 or a panel constructed from a clear see-through material, plastic or similar which will let light through.
Fig. 9 and 10 illustrates similar view of card section laid flat with seed merchants own pre-packed and hermetically sealed seeds 13 packet 16 surface mounted fig. 9 or 16 packet incorporated into card construction 12 12 with suitable tear-off tab. 17 to release seeds.
