Abstract

A free standing apparatus for securing a bicycle to allow work to be done on it comprises an upright 4 which slides up and down to alter height, clamps 10 which have three positions on a coupling pole 9 and a coupling pole 7 which can be locked in any position through 360 DEG . <IMAGE>

Description

BICYCLE REPAIR STAND This is a free standing apparatus designed to hold a bicycle while being cleaned or repaired.
It holds mens, womens and childrens bicycles in any position that would be required for repair or cleaning.
A bicycle may be held in the upright position, wheels either on or off the ground, or raised off the ground in the upside down position. Just the front wheel or the rear wheel can be raised off the ground and held, or the bicycle can be tilted towards or away from you and secured in position.
Bicycles are unstable without someone or something to hold them steady for cleaning and repairing. The bicycle is put against a wall or turned upside down and balanced on the saddle and handlebars. If it is against the wall, you are limited to working on one side, and the bicycle has a tendency to move or fall over. Turned upside down, damage to the saddle, gear and brake levers could occur.
According to the present invention there is a bicycle repair stand with means to hold a bicycle on or off the ground, and in any position that would be required for repair or cleaning and allowing access all round.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which; Figure 1 Shows front view Figure 2 Shows side view Figure 3 Shows plan Figure 4 Shows isometric view Referring to drawings the apparatus comprises: The Base 1, fastened to Base legs 2 The upright in two sections, 3 is fixed to Base 2 4 slides in and out of 3, and is locked in position with lock screw 5.
Coupling pole 7 slides through coupling block 6 and is locked in position with lockscrew 8 Clamps 10 fix in any of three positions on coupling pole 9, this is attached to coupling pole 7 by "T" piece 11.
The appratus is assembled with screws 12 and wing nuts 13.

1 A Bicycle Repair Stand comprising base, frame and clamps to hold securely a bicycle while work is carried out 2 A Bicycle Repair Stand as claimed in Claim 1, wherein adjustments for different size bicycles are provided 3 A Bicycle Repair Stand as claimed in Claim 1, or Claim 2 wherein adjustments for different positions are provided
