Kinematograph picture films; colour photography; finishing; films, stripping.-A monochrome positive film having its images enclosed is built up by cementing together, with their celluloid supports outermost, two films of half standard thickness, each comprising a celluloid or like base on which is coated an adhesive substratum and a colloid layer. The images may ba printed on one component film, or identical images may be printed upon both components; or complemental images of different shades of the same colour or of different intensity of printing may be printed on the two components. Any known sensitizing and printing processes for producing relief or non-relief images may be emploved. The thin films may be tremforced by a strippable paper laver, applied during manufacture to the celluloid or colloid face, and removed before or after the cementing together of the component films. When both component films carry images, registration is secured by accurately punched feed perforations. Doublewidth film stock may be employed, having the colloid layer on one or both halves sensitized: when one half only is sensitized, the other half or the whole width of the film, may be stained; and when both halves are sensitized, the sensitive layers on each half may possess different characteristics, for example as regards scale of gradation. The component films are united (after severance, when using double-width stock) by applying cement to their colloid faces, drying, moistening the cement and pressing together in register, for example, as described in Specification 232,302.
