Abstract

A dummy sash window 14 is secured into a u.p.v.c. window frame 15 by a security clip which is fastened in a groove 18 in the sash. Its design allows it to provide correct impression onto gasket seals of window frame and sash, whilst at the same time centralising the dummy sash within the window frame. <IMAGE>

Description

Descripfion UY.V.C. Window Dummy Sash Seauing Clip.
This invention relates to a U.P.V.C. window dummy sash securing clip.
The dummy sash has traditionally been an integral part of a window when equal sight lines are required around all of the glass panes.
The dummy sash is also used to fascilitate the use of internal glazing beads without having to reverse butt weld the window frame.
The normal method affixing the dummy sash into the window frame is by means of mechanical fixing such as screws. The procedure also required that the dummy sash is clamped into the outer frame prior to drilling, in order that correct compression of gasket seals take place, it is also a requirement to position packing pieces at regular intervals between the dummy sash and the window frame to centralise the dummy sash about the window frame.
According to the present invention there is provided a window dummy sash securing clip which allows installation of a dummy sash into a window frame where both sash and window are manufactured from extruded up. v. c. profiles with the sash profile incorporating an euro groove.
The securing clip provides correct compression of the dummy sash onto the gasket seals in the window, it also centralises the dummy sash about the window frame and requires no mechanical fixing.
Specification A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing SKool, in which: Figure 1: Shows in perspective the dummy sash securing clip.
Figure 2: Shows a side elevation of the dummy sash securing clip.
Figure 3: Is a cross-section and shows dummy sash profile complete with securing clip as it is being inserted into window outer frame profile of window.
Figure 4: Is a cross-section of dummy sash profile after it has been installed into window outer frame, and shows final position of securing clip.
Referring to the drawing SKool, the securing clip features a flexible flange 12 and serrated edge 13 as shown in figure 1, it also incorporates specific dimensions X and Z as shown in figure 2, which ensures correct positioning of dummy sash 14 into window frame 15 as shown in figure 4.
In order that the dummy sash 14 can be fitted securely into window outer frame 15, securing clip as shown in figure 1, is inserted into eurogroove 18 of dummy sash 14 as shown in figure 3.
Dummy sash 14 is then fitted into window outer frame 15 in the direction of arrow A' as shown in figure 3.
During installation of dummy sash 14, flange 12 Figure 2) is deflected in the direction of arrow 'B' as shown in figure 3.
Once dummy sash 14 is pushed into window outer frame 15 with sufficient force to ensure correct pressure on E.P.D.M. gasket seals 16 Figure 3), flange 12 returns back to its original position in the direction of arrow 'C' as shown in figure 3.
Flange 12 then becomes fully trapped behind profile leg 17 (figure 4) of window outer frame 15 which is its finial position.
By making certain dimensional adjustments, the securing clip can be made to suit different systems of u.p.v.c.
casement window profile that incorporate an euro groove within the sash profile.
