Abstract

A diving mask 1 has a computer 2 which automatically projects relevant dive information onto the faceplate 4 at position 3 so that the diver need only look up from his/her normal field of view and see the relevant information reflected onto the faceplate. <IMAGE>

Description

DIVING COMPUTER AND MASK COMBINED This invention relates to a dive computer and mask combined.
Dive computers supply to a diver essential information such as depth, time and when it is necessary to carry out decompression stops. Dive computers are normally worn on the arm or incorporated at the end of a hose hanging at the divers side.
In certain situations during a dive it may become difficult for the diver to quickly obtain the information required from the computer. Examples of this are; when there is inadequate light; when the visibility in the water is so bad that the diver cannot see the computer; when the hose incorporating the computer cannot be found; when the arm the computer is strapped to is being used in such a way that the computer cannot be read.
The invention of incorporating a dive computer into a divers mask will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the side view of the dive computer and mask Figure 2 shows the front view of the dive computer and mask with dive information displayed.
Referring to the drawing the dive computer 2 is incorporated into the top of the diving mask 1 behind the face plate 4 as illustrated. When the diver descends below approximately 2 metres of the surface the illuminated digital display 6 becomes activated automatically by way of the pressure sensor 5.
The digital display 6 of dive information, is displayed as a mirror image ie. all the information is displayed in reverse. When the diver wishes to obtain information about the dive he/she simply looks up above the normal field of view and the digital display 6 is reflected into the view of the diver via the faceplate 4. Detail 3 illustrates the position on the faceplate 4 where the dive information can be seen.

Claims (6)

1. A diving computer and mask combined wherein a diver can look in the top of his/her faceplate during a dive computer situated in the top of the mask.
2. A diving computer and mask combined as claimed in Claim 1 wherein dive information is displayed and reflected into the view of the diver in the top portion of the masks faceplate.
3. A diving computer and mask combined as claimed in Claims 1 and 2 wherein the dive information displayed is sufficiently illuminated so as to be seen under any diving conditions.
4. A diving computer and mask combined as claimed in any previous claim wherein the dive computer will function and remain water tight to a depth of 60 metres.
5. A diving computer and mask combined as claimed in any previous claim wherein the display is projected in such a way as to be readable at this very close distance.
6. A diving computer and mask combined as described herein with reference to Figure 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing.
