Abstract
227,626. Adamson & Co., Ltd., D., and Gilmour J. Jan. 14, 1924. Regulating.-A turbo-blower or compressor is regulated for constant volume by means of a float device D which controls the speed of the driving turbine. The perforated end of a pipe a is placed in the eye of the first wheel A of the compressor and the other end is connected to the top of a sealed tank B. A pipe b connects the tank B to an open tank C containing fluid, and a float D with a long vertical rod d sliding in a bracket e on the casing of the relay valve E and operating the double piston F, F<1>, Fig. 3, of the relay through the lever G. The ports e<3>, e<4> of the relay are connected by pipes 71', h' to the ports h<1>, h<2> of the motor H which controls the speed of the turbine by operating the governor slide or in any other suitable manner. The motor has a rotor H<1> mounted eccentrically in a cylindrical space and provided with two spring-controlled blades h. When the volume of air entering the wheel A falls below normal, the suction on the pipe a, also falls and the float D rises. The double piston F, F<1> drops and fluid under pressure passes from the port c<2> to the port e', then through the motor H and the port e<4> to the exhaust e<5>. The motor operates to increase the turbine speed. If the volume of air increases, the float D falls and the motor is operated in the reverse direction.
