Abstract

The apparatus consists of a rectangular box, the four flat faces (9) of which are magnetised. The lid of the box comes off, and jig-saw pieces are stored on trays within the box, one tray to each jig-saw design. Each separate piece of each individual jig-saw is identical in size and shape, although different jig-saw designs are made up of different shapes and sizes. Thus, one design might be made up of squares, and another might be made up of triangles. Each piece is magnetised. <IMAGE>

Description

JOINT EFFORT A MAGNETIC GEOMETRICAL JIGSAW GA THIS INVENTION IS A TURNTABLE WITH A GEOMETIC SHAPE ONTOP.
MOST JIGSAWS ARE FLAT AND PUT TOGETHER ON A FLAT SURFACE WITH SPARE PIECES AROUND THEM AND THE PICTURE ON A BOX LID. THIS INVENTION DIFERS IN THAT BECAUSE THE PIECES ARE MAGNETIC THEY CAN BE DONE ON AN UPRIGHT SURFACE. BEING MAGNETIC THEY ALSO DON'T NEED TO INTERLOCK AND SO THE PIECES CAN BE ANY SHAPE WE CHOOSE TO DO. THE PIECES SIT ON TRAYS WHICH FIT INSIDE THE UNIT AND THE PICTURE THAT IS FOLLOWED FOR EACH JIGSAW SLIDES INTO A HINGED FRAME ON THE LID OF THE UNIT ITSELF.
PHOTOGRAPHS OF PROTOTYPE: A. THIS SHOWS THE ENTIRE INITIAL PROTOTYPE WHICH IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE HAPPENS TO BE A CUBE. IT SHOWS ALSO THE LID WITH THE HANDLE, AND THE 4 HINGED FRAMES WHICH GO UPRIGHT TO HOLD ANY PICTURE WE DECIDE TO CHOOSE THAT THE JIGSAW IS OF.
B. THIS PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS THE SMALL HINGED FRAME UPRIGHT.
IT ALSO SHOWS A TRAY WITH PIECES ON, AND THE FRONT FACE WITH A JIGSAW PARTIALLY DONE. ON THE UNIT.
C. THIS SHOWS 2 OF THE 4 SMALL HINGED FRAMES UPRIGHT, AND LIKE B. TWO PARTIALLY DONE JIGSAWS, AND TWO TRAYS.
D. THIS IS A SIDE ON VIEW OF THE MAIN UNIT SHOWING THE TURNTABLE; LID; AND 2 FACES THAT THE JIGSAW IS PUT ON.
E. THIS SHOWS THE INSIDE OF THE UNIT WITH ONE OF THE TRAYS IN IT.
THE DRAWINGS DRAWING A 1. THE BASE 1, 2, AND 6 THE TURNTABLE.
3. THE BORDER 4. THE TRAYS THAT FIT INSIDE THE UNIT.
5. THE LID WHICH WILL BE ATTACHED TO THE UNIT.
7. THE HINGED FRAMES 8. A HANDLE 9. THE FACE THAT THE JIGSAWS ATTACH ONTO.
10. FINGER-HOLES IN THE TRAYS FOR LIFTING OUT OF THE BOX.
DRAWING B THIS JUST SHOWS THE WAY THE UNIT ROTATES ROUND.
THE GAME IS FOR 1 PLAYER OR MORE THE TRAYS ALSO HAVE A SMALL SLOTTING FRAME UNDER EACH ONE TO SLIDE EACH RELEVANT PICTURE.

Claims (4)

1 A four sided magnetic box on which magnetic jig-saw pieces are attached.
2 The box is made to contain the pieces of the jig-saws on specially designed non-magnetic trays.
3 The pieces which make up the jig-saws are of identical size and shape, and are geometric i.e. one jigsaw would be made up of identically shaped squares, another of identically shaped triangles, another of identically shaped hexagons etc...
4 A development of the box to be a circular box, as opposed to four-sided, with the same characteristics as 2 and 3 above.
