Fixing by T-sockets with locking keys.- T-sockets for the blades of miners' picks and similar tools comprise a socket c secured to the handle b and adapted to receive a tapered eye piece d which passes through the usual tapered slot a<1> in the blade a. Locking of the socket is effected by a wedge e passing through holes c' in the socket and engaging a tapered groove d' in the eye piece. Set-screw securing devices for socket fixings.- Detachable points, Fig. 4, having round or square dowels a<2> entering corresponding holes in the pick blade a, are secured by grub screws f engaging grooves in the dowels. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifacations 3463/80 and 4049/81.
