Abstract

A metal origami article is made from a paper original. The paper is lacquered and a cold cure mould is made, to produce a wax replica. This wax replica is then centrifugally cast in a hot mould and metal origami articles manufactured, preferably of gold or silver. The articles may be used for earrings, cuff-links or pendants. <IMAGE>

Description

ORIGAMI JEWELLERY Description Origami is the well known Japanese art of paper folding. The technical field of this art means complicated combinations or folds producing unlimited variations of forms; these paper origami forms are combined with metal fittings and stones to produce paper earrings.
This invention is taking these origami folded forms and by putting them through various processes, and by using methods and skills, producing metal origami articles of jewellery.
The paper origami form is lacquered with translac lacquer to render the form impervious to water. Then through a cold cure mould in a centrifugal casting process resulting in a wax form which is then worked on before going back to the casters for a "hot mould" in a centrifugal casting process. The result is a metal origami article, usually in silver or gold (or other) upon which the final details are created - then back to the casters for the first finished mould from which manufacture will occur.
To the metal product is added, by securely joining, chains, jump rings, cufflink fittings, pegs and scrolls or any other fittings to the origami metal article, to produce when combined with precious or semi-precious stones whether set, hung or any other method of joining securely, a finished article of origami jewellery i.e. (a) & (c) below.
This jewellery, if the article is made of silver, may well be put through a gold plating process resulting in a layer of gold over the solid silver origami article i.e. (b).
Examples (a) (1) Silver origami sun article (2) Silver jump rings ) 1 silver hanging sun (3) Silver finding ) earring (b) (1) Gold plated silver origami ) sun article (2) Cufflink fitting in silver, ) 1 gold plated sun cufflink yet gold plated ) (c) (1) Solid gold origami sun article ) (2) One gold jump ring ) 1 solid gold pendant origami (3) Pendant chain in solid gold ) sun with set stones, on chain (4) Two emeralds set, one in each eye ) (5) One ruby set in the sun's mouth
