Abstract

227,010. Hamer, L. Feb. 23, 1924. Retractive switches.-A switch for motor and other vehicles and boats, of the kind comprising contact members mounted in the two parts of a divided steering handwheel, controlling handle or the like and adapted to complete a signal circuit when pressed together, is provided with rubber buffers in proximity to the contacts to prevent accidental closing of the switch. The rim of a steering handwheel is made in two parts 2, 3, positioned relatively to each other by springs 4, the centres of which are bolted at 6 to the top part 2 while the ends have slots to take screws 8 fixed to the lower part. Contact rings 11, 12 are provided on the two rim parts, the leads 17, 18 from which pass along one of the spokes of the wheel. Rubber rings 23, 24 are fixed on each side of the contact ring 12, and opposite them are rubber studs or buffers 25 carried by the top rim part 2 so that when the two parts are pressed together to close the contacts the studs are pressed against the rubber rings.
