Abstract
A family cycle 3, designed for one adult and two children to propel the cycle together, is controlled by the adult with separate handlebars, seats and pedals for use by children. An additional toddler seat is located in front of the adult. The adult's chain wheel A drives double chain wheel B on the inner sprocket. Children's chain wheels C & D link by chain to the outer sprocket of chain wheel B. All chain wheel sprockets are equally toothed so that the adult and children pedal at same speed. <IMAGE>
Description
THE FAMILY CYCLE
The Family Cycle has been designed for one parent and to children to combine in propelling the cycle. The children have the enjoyri, ent of cycling on the road in safety, as the parent has control of the cycle. There is an additional seat for a younger child in front of the parent.
Fig 1 - is the Family Cycle.
Fig 2 - is the chain set-up for the main drive.
The parent's chainwheel (a) drives a double chainwheel (b)
on the inner sprocket.
wig 3 - the children's chainwheels (c) & (d) link up by chain to the
outer sprocket of chainwheel (b).
All the sprockets shown in wigs 2 & 3 are of 40 teeth so
parent and children pedal at the same speed.
On the chain runs are tensioners (f) & (g) to take up any
slack in the chain.
Fig 4 - on the other side of double chainwheel kb) spindle is
another double chainwheel (e) with 40 tooth and 50 tooth
sprockets to allow for high and low ear ratios to the
rear wheel. This drives standard chain-shift gears.
Claims (1)
- STATET OF CLAIM FOR "FAMILY CYCLE TES FAMILY CYCLE has been designed for one parent and two children to propel the cycle. The children have their own handlebars, seats and pedals, whilst the parent remains in full control of the cycle. All handlebars, seats and pedals can be adjusted to accommodate child's growth. There is an additional safety seat in front of the parent for use by a toddler Fig (1) is the FAMILY CYCLE Fig (2) is the chain set-up for the Kain Drive. The parent's chain wheel (a) drives a double chain wheel (b) on the inner sprocket.Fig (3) the childrens' chain wheels (c & d) link up by chain to the outer sprocket of chain wheel (b).All chain wheel sprockets in Figs (2) & (3) are of 40 teeth, so that parent and children pedal at the same speed. On the other side of the double chain wheel (b) spindle, there is another double chain wheel (e) with a 40 tooth and a 50 tooth sprocket, to allow for high and low gear ratios to the rear wheel. On the chain runs shown in Fig (2) N (3) there are chain tensioners.Fig (4) is the standard set up for Derailleur gears to the rear wheel.Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows STATEMENT OF CLAIM FOR "FAMILY CYCLE" TEE FAMILY CYCLE has been designed for one parent and two children to propel the cycle.
