Abstract

A lifting means intended for lifting and lowering a person, and provided with a drive means 2 and lifting mechanism, 3 and 4, disposed in a housing 1 and on opposite ends of the housing, 1, altogether four lifting belts, 5 and 6, or equivalent moving in relation to each other simultaneously inward or outward, for keeping stable a parson suspended in a harness or frame with their aid, and the upper part, or the end, of said housing further comprises a carrying pivot, 8, for keeping suspended the housing and the person who is being lifted. The rollers, 7, at the corners of the housing may be omitted (Fig 2, not shown). <IMAGE>

Description

2267073 PERSON LIPTING MEANS Thepresent invention concerns a lifting means
as defined in the preamble to the Claims. In particular, the object of the invention is a lifting means appropriate for lifting, keeping suspended and lowering a person.
The auxiliary means is affixed by the upper part or the end of its body frame to the ceiling, to a rail or for instance to a cantilever, and the person is kept suspended by four belts hanging down from the auxiliary means, the lifting and lowering movements being accomplished with said belts.
In prior art, lifting aids affixed to the ceiling, to a rail or to a cantilever are known in which the.lifting movement is accomplished by means of one belt. Others have.
moreover, a transversal carrier bar on the lower end of the belt. Furthermore, an auxiliary means fixed to a cantilever above the bed is known which supports the patient, or a frame, by means of four belts. However,' said auxiliary means does not itself perform the lifting motion, which is instead carried out by the base on which the person lies.
Further, lifting means travelling on wheels are known in the case of which one belt! cantilever or rigid frame performs the lifting motion. It is true that in such auxiliary means the person can be supported at four points, while the lifting itself takes place with one belt, cantilever or frame.
With the design of the invention, remarkable improvement is achieved, compared with the devices discussed in the foregoing, and the invention is characterized by that which

Claims (2)

is stated in the Claim. The most important advantage of the invention is its overhead placement, and the high stability in lifting movements resulting from the use of four belts. Because the 1 lifting means itself is located overhead, it is out of the way, yet within reach when needed. Also in use the space requirements of the means are negligible, and the lifting, lowering and moving of a person, as well as any attendance to the person' s needs are easy to carry out. It is possible with the four belts of the means to keep aloft the person, or a separate f rame on which the person may rest e.g. in recumbent position. The four belts have a substantial effect improving the stability and safety of use in lifting situations. owing to the multi-point suspension there is no tendency of the person who is being lifted to rotate or swing or become hunched while being lifted. In the following the invention is more closely described, referring to Figs 1 and 2 of the drawing, in which two variants of the means are presented, as viewed obliquely from above, and partly made transparent. In Figs 1 and 2 an auxiliary means is depicted, of which the most important components are disposed in a housing 1. In the housing is accommodated a motor 2, and belt drums 3 and 4, these drums being rotated by the motor, over a step-down transmission, in both directions. on both drums 3 and 4 are wound, one upon the other, two belts. Lifting/ lowering operations are implemented with the means by changing the length of the belts, by winding them on or of f the drums 3 and 4 with the aid of the motor 2. As in Fig. 1, the belts 5 and 6 may be conducted from the drums 3 and 4 to the different corners of the housing, in which case deflection rolls 7 have been provided on each corner and which direct the belts downward. The lower ends of the belts are connected with the aid of separate connectors to a lifting bag surrounding the'person to be lifted, or to a harness or lifting frame. In the upper part (Fig. 1) or on the end (Fig. 2) of the means a pivoted f ixing point 8 is provided which enables the means to be fixed to the ceiling, 2 to a rail or to a swivelling cantilever 9. The pivot permits rotation of the means in the horizontal plane. The means is operated from a separate control unit, which is disposed close to the operator. Numerous modifications of the means are feasible within the scope of the inventive idea, defined by the Claim following below. 3 4 CLAIMS:
1. A lifting means intended for lifting and lowering a person, provided with an own lifting mechanism (2,3 and 4) disposed in a housing (1) and with a drive means, characterized in that there are on opposite ends of the housing (1) altogether four lifting cords (5 and 6) or equivalent moving in relation to each other simultaneously inward and outward, for keeping a person suspended with their aid, and that the upper part, or the end, of said housing further comprises a carrying pivot (8) for keeping suspended the housing and the person who is being lifted.
2. A lifting means as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings.
