Abstract

The overhead compression machine consists of two flighted chains, which carry compression paddles (431) used for compressing or controlling of the product which is carried via a standard bucketed or flighted conveyor. It is fully adjustable in operation, and is tracked via the use of a central cam track mechanism (407) linked to the compression paddles. The compression paddles travel at the same linear speed as the bucket conveyor and are progressively lowered into the bucket, thus compressing or controlling any product being transported in that bucket prior to loading into a carton. <IMAGE>

Description

OVERHEAD COMPRESSION MACHINE Description The overhead compression machine is used to control and compress product carried along a conveyor. Usually, a product travels along a flighted conveyor, or a bucket conveyor. The product will reach a fixed station on its path which will compress the product to the required size. The fixed station limits the size variation of the product processed. The overhead compression machine overcomes this difficulty by being easily adjustable, thus being able to deal with a larger product range. The overhead compression machine also controls the product more efficiently, as it travels in parallel with the conveyor, compressing as it goes.
