Abstract

The alarm comprises a bell box containing solar cells to charge a battery and a radio receiver for activating an alarm siren. An internal radio transmitter transmits box tamper, system set, and battery low warning to an internal receiver. The external alarm bell box also includes a delay timer and a shutoff timer. The box may also include a speech synthesizer, strobe lights and a radio telephone. <IMAGE>

Description

EXTERNAL AUDIBLE FIRE AND INTRUDER WARNING ALARM SYSTEM This invention relates to a wireless solar powered radio external audible fire and intruder warning alann system.
External alarm systems are well known comprising an alarm box, bell, self activating alarm unit and battery, where by signals are sent to ring a bell or siren by wires on the outside wall of premises with an anti-wire sever protection circuit from a control unit.
External audible warning alarms have to be wire run, they require external electrical power supply and operating signals, also they require a charging power source to supply electricity to the self activating bell unlit, they require a control unit, and protected wires secured in the wall and anti-tamper connections. Wired alarms are unsitely, insecure and are costly to install and replacing batteries is impractical.
According to the present invention there is provided a wireless, radio operated solar powered audible external, fire and intruder warning alarm system where in ten Nicad batteries are charged through a transistorised circuit by two times 60 mm x LOO mm Amorphus Photo Voltage Solar PNPNPN Germainum cells and discharged by the operation of a radio (pager type) receiver and battery sampling circuit during 183A at 1% volts to discharge through transistors at 15 volts to a voltage regulator running the alarm siren when the radio transmitter is operated by a hand set, passive infrared detector, or smoke alarm. An adjustable 20 minute shutoff timer is fitted to allow more than one operation to take place and save battery power.Inside the premises an internal radio receiver monitors anti-tamper, battery low, and system set. Functions of the external alarm system, detecting the external alarms internal radio transmitters operations.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with references to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 shows the Germainum Amorphus NPN and PNP silicon cells wired in series.
Fig. 2 shows the external warning alarm external casing with solar cells fitted to the front surface. Fig. 3 shows in schematic form the internal electrical control circuit, in which the amorphus solar cells charge the Nicad batteries connected at 1% volts each through a charge diode and charge transistor; the batteries are discharged through two voltage regulators to the radio receiver and the alarm output stage on receiving a signal from the radio receiver. The radio receiver draws power through a battery sampling circuit, as low power consumption is required.
The receiver signal is amplified and transmitted to the system security code detector, and channel code detector supplying control operating instructions. A channel time delay is fitted. The receiver output stage is fitted with a 20 minute shutoff timer to reduce alarm operating time before going to the alarm horn siren, limiting it to 20 minutes maximum operation. This allows more alarm activation of the alarm to take place, a radio telephone and modem is fitted also, strobe light, a speech synthesiser is used for the fire alarm clearly distinguishing a difference between the intruder and fire alarms.
The internal radio transmitter is also housed in the alarm bell box with modulator to relay all anti-tamper connection, system set and battery low function to an internal receiver. Fig. 4 shows the radio receiver, Fig. 5 shows the batteries, charge transistors and discharge transistors. Fig. 6 shows the charge battery power supply and voltage change over system. Fig. 7 shows the intruder detector (passive infrared detector) system channel code and security codes, internal battery and modulated transmitter. Fig. 8 shows transmitter, modulator code security and channels, connected to a smoke detector. Fig. 9 shows system set on set operator. Fig. 10 shows the internal radio receiver detection anti-tamper/system set and battery low function of the bell box.
