Abstract

The device comprises replacement nuts 1 that are used to retain the vehicle wheel, and a protruding arm 3 that can be fitted to the replacement wheel nuts and locked in place. If the vehicle is moved, rotation of the wheel results in the arm contacting the ground, therefore preventing removal of the vehicle. Engagement of the nuts is by a slotted groove in the arm thereby allowing the device to fit different sized wheels. When the arm is in a fitted position, the nuts cannot be removed. <IMAGE>

Description

This invention relates to a security bar that attaches to the wheel of any trailer or free standing wheeled object.
All trailers and wheeled items can easily be stolen when left. The attachment of Trailguard protects them from being towed away.
This invention provides replacement bolts to the wheel of the trailer which have a locking groove in them. Steel tubes to go over the bolts used to make unscrewing impossible and a steel post which is grooved to fit on the bolts and adjust to any size wheel. There is a lock fitted inside the post which prevents it being removed. The length of the post stops the wheel from turning.
A specific embodiment of the invention will be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the design of the replacement bolt.
Figure 2 shows the steel tubes that cover the bolts.
Figure 3 shows the steel post that slots on to the nuts.
The Trailguard is a toughened steel bar that is easily fitted to the wheel of any trailer or wheeled object once the nuts have been replaced with the special nuts provided.
The nuts once fitted remain on the wheel.
The slotted groove in the Trailguard means it will fit any size wheel.
The steel tubes prevent anybody trying to remove the nuts when the Trailguard is in position.
The length of the Trailguard makes it impossible for the wheel to turn and therefore impossible to tow away the protected vehicle.

Claims (4)

1. The fitting of a Trailguard prevents a thief from towing away the protected vehicle, it also prevents it rolling downhill.
2. The design makes fitting the Trailguard simple to fit for a man or woman.
3. The lengthways slot makes this a unique device as the one design fits all size of wheel.
4. It will prevent the theft of caravans, horse boxes, boat trailers, box trailers, as well as farm machinery and building plant.
