Abstract

A clamp which can be inserted onto and around a car wheel and tyre and locked onto the car wheelnut. Once locked into position the clamp prevents the car wheel from rotating. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Anti-theft car wheel clamp This invention relates to an anti car theft wheel clamping device. According to this invention there is provided a device which wraps around a portion of the wheel and type, and locks onto the wheelnut of the car.

Once locked into position on the car wheel, the clamp is designed such that a block welded onto the clamp serves to prevent rotation of the wheel and thus prevent theft of the car.

The drawings will provide a clear illustration of the invention: Figure 1 (sheet 1/4) shows in perspective the clamp itself.

Figure 2 (sheet 2/4) shows a sectional side view of the clamp.

Figure 3 (sheet 3/4) shows a sectional view of the clamp actually locked onto a wheel.

Figure 4 (sheet 4/4) shows in perspective the clamp locked onto a car wheel.

Referring to Fig. 1 (sheet 1/4) the clamp consists of a clamp arm 1, an anti rotation block 2, which is welded to the clamp arm 1, and a locking tube 3, which is welded to the clamp arm 1.

The clamp is locked onto the wheel by hooking the clamp arm 1 around the edge of the car tyre and around the back of the tyre and wheel. The locking tube is then pushed over a wheelnut. A locking mechanism is then inserted through the clamp arm and is locked either onto or into a wheelnut.

The locking mechanisms and wheel nuts are readily available.

The clamp can also be locked onto the wheelnut in a manner whereby the wheelnut protrudes through the clamp arm 1 (Fig. 1) and a padlock is locked onto the wheelnut preventing removal of the clamp.

The car wheel is item 7 on Fig. 3. The car tyre is item 8 on Fig. 3. The locking mechanism is indicated by item 5 on Fig. 3. The clamp arm is item 1 on Fig. 3.

1. An anti-theft car wheel clamp comprising a clamp body 1 (Fig. 1), an anti-rotation block 2 (Fig. 1), which is welded to the clamp arm 1, and a locking tube 3 (Fig. 1) which is welded to the clamp arm 1. The clamp is able to be locked onto a car wheelnut such that when it is in position rotation of the wheel is prevented, thus theft of the car is prevented.

2. An anti-theft car wheel clamp as claimed in claim 1 wherein locking methods are provided so as to allow a padlock to be used to secure the clamp to the wheel nut of the car.

3. An anti-theft car wheel clamp as claimed in claim 1 wherein locking methods are provided so as to allow a locking mechanism to be inserted through the clamp arm 1 (Fig. 1) and then secured into or onto the car wheelnut.

According to this invention there is provided a device which wraps around a portion of the wheel and type, and locks onto the wheelnut of the car. 1. An anti-theft car wheel clamp comprising a clamp body 1 (Fig. 1), an anti-rotation block 2 (Fig. 1), which is welded to the clamp arm 1, and a locking tube 3 (Fig. 1) which is welded to the clamp arm 1. The clamp is able to be locked onto a car wheelnut such that when it is in position rotation of the wheel is prevented, thus theft of the car is prevented.

2. An anti-theft car wheel clamp as claimed in claim 1 wherein locking methods are provided so as to allow a padlock to be used to secure the clamp to the wheel nut of the car.

3. An anti-theft car wheel clamp as claimed in claim 1 wherein locking methods are provided so as to allow a locking mechanism to be inserted through the clamp arm 1 (Fig. 1) and then secured into or onto the car wheelnut.
