Abstract
226,600. Esse, C. E., and Associated Equipment Co., Ltd. Sept. 22, 1923. Jet nozzles.-A road-washing vehicle is provided with an arrangement of nozzles or jets for simultaneously directing on to the road surface a leading stream of liquid reaching it from one direction and a following stream reaching it from a different direction, the directions being viewed in plan relatively to the direction of traverse of the vehicle. In the form shown in plan in Fig. 2, the leading stream proceeds from jets 22 - - 26 directed obliquely towards the " near " side, and the following stream proceeds from a single jet 21 (see also Fig. 4), directed transversely from the " off " side to the " near " side. All the jets are preferably fed with liquid under pressure and directed at 30‹ to the road surface. The fan-shaped jets 22 - - 26 are shown staggered to prevent intermingling of the jets before the surface is reached. The orifices of these five nozzles may have the sections shown in Fig. 5, so that thin portions of the jets are adjacent.
