Abstract

An elongate strip of natural loofah 2 is secured to a length of round-section wood dowel 1 which forms a handle. The strip of loofah 2 occupies about half the length of the dowel 1 and, in end view, is of generally trapezoidal shape. The strip is cut from the wall of a loofah pod, aligned with the axial direction of the pod, and the inner face is then bonded to the dowel using a non-water-soluble adhesive. <IMAGE>

Description

BODY CLEANSING DEVICE TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a device for cleansing inaccessible areas of the body, particularly (but not exclusively) between the toes.
BACKGROUND Certain areas of the body such as between the toes are difficult to clean using conventional sponges, brushes, flannels and the like.
An aim of the present invention may be viewed as being to provide a device which is suitable for the purpose.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention proposes a body cleansing device comprising a head of loofah or loofah-like reticulate material secured to a rigid elongate handle.
The preferred reticulate material is an elongate length of natural loofah, but synthetic reticulate materials, e.g. plastics, could also be used.
The handle may also be of synthetic materials such as plastics, but natural cellulose-based materials are preferred, e.g. wood.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention is exemplified in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a side view of a body cleansing device of the invention, and Figure 2 is an end view of the device.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The device which is illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the drawings includes a length of roundsection wood dowel 1. At one end of the dowel an elongate strip of natural loofah 2 is secured to the side face of the dowel. The strip of loofah 2 occupies about half the length of the dowel 1 and, in end view (Fig. 2) is of generally trapezoidal shape. The strip is cut from the wall of a loofah pod, aligned with its axial direction, by means of two mutually inclined slits disposed such that the slits are closer at the inner face 3 of the pod wall than they are at the outer face 4. The inner face 3 is then bonded to the dowel using a suitable non-water-soluble adhesive. The opposite end of the dowel 1 forms a handle 5.
In use, the loofah is wetted so that it becomes soft, and by holding the handle 5 the loofah can be inserted between the toes for example to stimulate and cleanse the skin.
It will be appreciated that the loofah could extend further around the dowel 1, up to a maximum of 3600.
The device is inexpensive to produce, employs safe natural products, and has a useful life.
