Abstract
The radiator screen assembly, eg a decorative panel to cover radiators can be made up of 1 or more modules 10. The geometric style of each module frame (see 13 Fig 3) provides air-duct ventilation when an optional shelf is fixed on top of the screen assembly. The radiator screen is fixed in front of a radiator by adjustable slot locating brackets, 11 a being fixed to the wall and 11b to the screen. The distance of any given radiator from the wall will determine the appropriate slot facility thereof. Once the radiator screen is in place, it can be withdrawn or replaced readily by virtue of these slots. <IMAGE>
Description
ADJUSTABLE RADIATOR SCREEN MODULE/ ASSEMBLY
This invention relates to a ornamental Radiator Screen Assembly.
It is well known that bare radiators, located in homes, hotels, offices and wherever else they are to be found, present a rather ugly contrast to their surroundings, aswell as posing potential dangers to children and the elderly from minor burns. There do exist, radiator cabinets which totally enclose the radiator, but these tend to be rather intrusive in a domestic environment, heat flow efficiency is also impaired. Above all, a radiator cabinet, unlike a Radiator Screen, must be made-to-measure and thereby prove to be expensive to manufacture and install.
According to the present invention, there is provided a simple and smart
Screen fronted panel which is mounted to the wall by use of adjustable slotted brackets. The vast variety of radiators, by design and size, can be easily accomodated by the use of one or more Radiator Screen Modules joined together. This can then be adjusted on their brackets to distance the Radiator Screen from the radiator face.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
FIGURE 1 shows in perspective and cut-a-way the type of Radiator Screen
Module Assembly in situ;
FIGURE 2 illustrates a pair of adjustable fixing brackets, designed
specifically fo the Radiator Screen; and
FIGURE 3 shows the geometric design detail of each Radiator Screen Module.
With reference to figure 1 of the drawing, we have illustrated, in cuta-way, a typical radiator covered by a three Radiator Screen Module
Assembly 10. In this example we have shown 2 Modules of the same size, and 1 of a smaller size. By selection and calculation one~is able to cover any size of radiator by using any combination of predetermined "Standard" sizes, manufactured for stock.
By virtue of the "Standard" Screen Module design, Fig 3, the number of various combination sizes are minimal as the Radiator Screen Module can be used in either the horizontal or vertical plane.
The Radiator Screen Assembly is held in position by 2 pairs of brackets, 11 (a & b), located at each end of the Radiator Screen, Fig 2, illustrates the design for this purpose. Bracket lla is fixed to the wall and llb to the back of the Radiator Screen. Bracket llb is designed to drop over bracket lla, and locate in the slots provided. By virtue of these slots, one can adjust the Radiator Screen to accomodate the breadth of either single or double radiator requirements. This arrangement also facilitates the ease of hanging and removal of said Screen.
The angles cut, 12, of the bracket when married together, give a pleasing "Gothic" window style effect when viewed from the side.(See Fig 1)
With reference to Fig 3, the Screen Module is of uniform design which means it can be used in the vertical or horizontal plane, and as refered to above, assists in reducing the number of standard sizes of Screen Modules which combined, cover all radiator sizes with a high degree of accuracy.
The recessed edge design 13 on all 4 sides of the Module, act as ventilation ducts which ever-way "up"th.?Screen is mounted. This is particularly important if a radiator shelf is to rest on the top edge of the Screen, and or alternatively the bottom edge of the Screen is to rest on the floor.
Not illustrated in the drawing is a radiator shelf as it is not always posible to combine with the Radiator Screen Assembly, if say, a radiator is located under a window. The Radiator Screen however will be marketed with the benefits of an optional shelf.
Claims (5)
1. An adjustable Radiator Screen Module/ Assembly, with or without a fitted shelf, is a decorative screen, suspended and secured in place by adjustable brackets which are fixed at each end of the screen module/ assembly, and correspondingly fixed to the wall, either side of the radiator.
2. An adjustable Radiator Screen Module/ Assembly as claimed in claim 1 wherein slots are provided to the fixing brackets to control the fixing distance from radiator face and back face of radiator screen.
3. An adjustable Radiator Screen Module/ Assembly as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein a shelf is fitted to the screen, the depth of which conforms to one of the slot positions of fixing bracket.
4. An adjustable Radiator Screen Module/ Assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the whole assembly can be withdrawn from the radiator position or replaced in position by lifting off or lifting on to the slotted fixing brackets without the encumbrance of permanent fixings.
5. An Adjustable Radiator Screen Module/ Assembly substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-3 of the submitted drawing.
