Abstract

In a gas-discharging lighter a cotton fibre member 50 is embedded in a rubber washer 40 which is disposed between a nozzle seat 30 and a gas supply pipe 70, a through hole of constant small diameter is formed in the fibre cotton member, permitting a small constant amount of gas to be discharged and the gas is steadily sucked through the fibre cotton member and a constant stream discharged so that the flame is stable and constant. The rubber washer is leakproof without adjustment and the parts of the lighter are fewer than before and can be easily assembled so that lighter production can be totally automatically performed to lower the cost. <IMAGE>

Description

A GAS-DISCHARGING LIGHTER The present invention relates to a lighter which discharges a constant amount of gas, by means of a rubber washer embedded in a nozzle seat. The rubber washer communicates with a gas sucking pipe so that a constant amount of gas can be discharged and the flame of the lighter is stable and constant. The rubber washer has a perfect leakproof effect and the number of parts of the lighter are reduced and can be easily assembled.
Conventional disposable lighters are widely used. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, such lighters mainly include a cover member A having a thread hole B on its one side, in which a gas nozzle C, a nozzle cap D, a nozzle seat E, a foam sheet F, a foam sheet washer G, a sucking pipe seat H and a gas sucking pipe I are disposed sequentially. Several disadvantages exist with such lighters as follows.
(1) The foam sheet F controls the discharging amount of the gas and is made of a plastic material through a heating and a foaming process. Such a foam sheet F can not directly control the amount of the discharged gas and therefore when used, the amount of gas must be controlled by the pressing force and thus the flame can not be produced stably.
(2) During production of the lighter, after the lighter is filled with gas, the strength of the flame must be controlled by the loosening/tightening of the nozzle cap D. However, due to the restriction of the above item 1 and the tolerance of dimension of the thread of the nozzle cap D (caused by the error in the injection molding procedure of the plastic material and the variation of environmental conditions), the strength of the flame of respective lighters can not easily be unified so that the flame must be adjusted by the operator to become uniform.
Because of the above item 1 and 2, no automatic equipment is available for setting a fixed position and performing automatic production. Therefore, much labour and money are wasted, and the price can not be lowered and the amount of the product can not be increased.
(3) Many parts are employed in making such lighters so that the cost is high and the assembly of these parts will be difficult.
(4) An 0-ring is likely to be distorted due to temperature variation or when adjusting the flame and thus cause gas leakage.
Therefore, an object of the invention is to produce an improved lighter in which the above drawbacks existing in prior art are all eliminated.
It is a primary object of this invention to provide a lighter which discharges a constant amount of gas, including a cover member having a thread hole on its one side, in which a gas nozzle, a nozzle cap, a nozzle seat, a rubber washer embedded with a fibre cotton member, and a gas sucking pipe are disposed sequentially. The design feature of the lighter resides in that the rubber washer is disposed between the nozzle seat and gas sucking pipe whereby the gas sucking pipe can communicate with the nozzle seat through a through hole of constant small diameter in the fibre cotton member embedded in the rubber washer, permitting the gas to flow through-the fibre cotton member steadily. As a result, the flame of the lighter can be stable. Moreover, the rubber washer is fitted to be airtight. The number of parts of the lighter is less than formerly necessary and can be assembled easily.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of this invention; Fig. 2 is an exploded view according to Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a sectional view according to Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a perspective exploded view of a conventional disposable lighter; and Fig. 5 is a sectional assembled view according to Fig. 4.
Referring first to Figs. 1, 2 and 3. The present invention includes a gas nozzle 10, a nozzle cap 20, a nozzle seat 30, a rubber washer 40, a fibre cotton member 50, a cover member 60 and a gas sucking pipe 70, wherein a threadedhole 61 is formed on one side of the cover member 60, in which the gas nozzle 10, nozzle cap 20, nozzle seat 30, rubber washer 40 containing a fibre cotton member 50 and gas sucking pipe 70 are sequentially mounted. The rubber washer 40 is formed with a lower annular flange 42 and located at the bottom of the thread hole 61 of the cover member 60.
The design features of this invention reside in that the rubber washer 40 is disposed between the nozzle seat 30 and gas sucking pipe 70 whereby the gas sucking pipe 70 can communicate with the nozzle seat 30 through a through hole of constant small diameter in the fibre cotton member 50 embedded in the rubber washer 40, permitting the gas to flow through the fibre cotton member 50.
The present invention has the advantages in manufacture and use as follows (as shown in Figs. 1 and 3); 1. The fibre cotton member 50 can be easily embedded in the rubber washer 40 to achieve the function of discharging a constant amount of gas.
2. The gas flows from the gas tank through the gas sucking pipe 70 and the fibre cotton member 50 in the rubber washer 40 into the gas nozzle 10 at a steady flowing amount so that the gas nozzle 10 can release a steady gas flow, making the flame stable and constant.
3. The rubber washer 40 is replaced for the leakproof ring J and is fastened in a plane pattern to prevent gas leakage so that the drawback of distortion of the conventional leakproof ring J can be eliminated.
4. The number of parts required are less and can be easily assembled.
5. The production can be totally automatically performed because after the lighter is filled with gas, no further manual adjustment is required for constantly discharging the gas so that the manufacturing cost is lowered.
In conclusion, the present invention is highly advantageous over the prior art.

Claims (3)

CLAIMS:
1. A lighter for discharging a constant amount of gas comprising a gas nozzle, a nozzle cap, a nozzle seat, a rubber washer containing a fibre cotton member, a cover and a gas sucking pipe, wherein a thread hole is formed on one side of said cover, in which said gas nozzle, nozzle cap, nozzle seat, rubber washer and gas sucking pipe are disposed sequentially, characterised in that said rubber washer is disposed between said nozzle seat and gas sucking pipe whereby a constant stream of gas is permitted to flow through a constant small diameter through hole in said fibre cotton member embedded in said rubber washer.
2. A lighter as claimed in claim 1, wherein said rubber washer is formed with a lower annular flange and located at the bottom of said thread hole of said cover for preventing gas leakage.
3. A lighter as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying Figs. 1 to 3.
