Abstract

A safety/warning light 10 with a removable worded message 15 is placed in the rear window of an automobile. A slot 13 allows differently worded plates 15 to be inserted to give different messages e.g. 'CHILD ON BOARD' or 'KEEP YOUR DISTANCE'. The light is connected to the brake lights and operates when the brakes are applied. <IMAGE>

Description

AUTOMOBILE REAR WINDOW WARNING LIGHT This invention relates to an automobile rear window safety/warning light.
Supplementary rear window brake lights are an added light in the rear window of an automobile wich the purpose of making other drivers more aware.
According to the present invention there is a safety/ warning light provided, which is fitted in the rear window of an automobile and connected to the brake lights by live and earth wires.
The safety/warning light has a slot at the front into which a plate with a worded message is inserted. When the brakes are operated, the light is activated and the message displayed.
The two plates tat can be inserted read 'CHILD ON BOARD' or 'KEEP YOUR DISTANCE'.

Referring to the diagrams, the safety/warning light comprises of a light in the form of a box 10, a plate with a worded message 1 5 and a slot at the front of the light in order to insert the plate 13.
An inside view of the light is shown in FXG 1 . The bulb is situated at the rear of the light 12 2 and in front of the bulb is a red lense 1 1 and directly in front of the lense is a slot 13 3 in order for a worded plate (FIG 2) 15 to be placed.
Measurements of the safety/warning light to comply with road vehicles regulations 1971 to amendment 1560-1977.

Claims (4)

  1. t. A safety/warning light comprising a removeable worded message in thc rear window of an automobile which lights up when brakes are applied.
  2. 2. A safety/warning light as claimed in claim 1 where the worded message 'CHILD ON BOARD' lights up in the rear window, when brakes are applied.
  3. 3. A safety/warning light as claimed in ciaims 1 & 2 where the worded message 'KEEP YOUR DISTANCE' lights up in the rear window, when brakes are applied.
  4. 4. A safety/warning light substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the accompanying diagrams.
