Abstract
The trolley is provided with a seat 7 which is foldable into a stored position, a large bag 16 for the storage of clubs, and pockets 19, 20 to store shoes, refreshments, balls, score cards etc. Lifting the seat automatically retracts the wheels to fold the trolley and the handle frame 1 can then be moved into a folded position as shown. <IMAGE>
Description
Combined Golf Trolley and Bag
with Integral Seat.
This invention relates to a folding combined golf trolley, cart or trundler incorporating integral golf club bag and seat. Hereafter called 'The Trolley'.
The game of golf is generally played over approximately four hours for which the rules state each player must have their own set of not more than fourteen clubs housed in a purpose made bag. Traditionally the bag was carried slung over the shoulder or placed on a separate trolley.
This combined trolley and bag invention incorporates a spaced lay-out for upto fourteen clubs, a seat to allow the user to rest while queuing to tee off and ample storage facilities.
The trolley is propelled by pushing or pulling on the pram style twin grip handle.
The trolley has specific and easily accessible storage bags attached to the frame which allows convenient transportation of golf balls, light refreshments, shoes and protective clothing, together with the clear plastic trolley cover.
A specific description of the invention will follow by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1.

Figure 2
Shows trolley side elevation ready for use.
Figure 3.
Shows trolley side elevation folded.
Figure 4
Shows trolley front elevation ready for use.
Figure 5
Shows trolley front elevation folded.
1. Referring to the drawing (Figure 1) the trolley comprises of a upper frame 1, and a lower frame 2, secured together with a pair of quick release twist lock thumb screws 3, with locating sleeve 4, between.
2. On the top of the upper frame 1, there are a pair of plastic handle grips 5.
3. On the lower frame 2, there is a component sub frame 6, which slides up and down the lower frame 2, with interaction when the seat 7, is folded or unfolded.
4. The seat 7, has a hard flat top 8, which is secured by a single stud 9, which acts as a fastener under which reveals a zip pocket.
5. There are four storage tubes 10, which are secured at the bottom with a stud 11, running through the centre of the tubes, (acting also as a stop) mounted at each end to sub frame 6.
6. The top of the tubes each have an individual saddle 12, wrapped around the tube passing a stud through the saddles in similar fashion as lower stud.
7. On the top of lower frame 2, there are two rubber retainers 14, each bolted to light weight angle with two bolts (not shown). These prevent club heads knocking together.
8. The lower sub frame . 6, supports a pair of wheel assemblies 13, that are located one on each side of the sub frame 6.
9. Between the tubes 10, there is a sleeve 15, to house a closed umbrella, this sleeve is mounted top and bottom to studs 11.
10. The main bag 16, is mounted to the lower frame 2 using studs passed through a sewn return top and bottom, these studs are then secured to lower frame 2, via small bolted brackets 17.
11. Within the main bag 16, there exists a main section, this is divided into ten sub section, each to house a club (inserted head first), this is achieved by sewing dividers similar to the bag body into position. These pockets are lined with padding at the bottom to support the clubs and prevent damage.
12. On the front of the bag 16, there is a stud 18, which passed through a sewn return, this stud acts as a brace to the bag which houses within a padding to protect club faces from damage.
13. In figure 2, it is shown that on the front of bag 16, there is a storage bag 19, which is used for storing shoes, light refreshments and wet weather clothes, this is accessed by lifting loose fit flap 20 which reveals a zipper which is diagonally mounted.
14. Reinforcing strips of woven nylon 21, are used to prevent excess strain and thus prevent the bag 16, from splitting.
15. On the front flap 20, there is a sewn pocket (not shown), to house notebook or score card, onto the pocket there is sewn, another pocket sewn, into five sections fan style to allow accommodation for upto five golf tees.
16. Between the rubber shaft retainers 14, there exists a gap which is utilized to carry the trolley by hand holding lower frame 2, this can be done with the trolley folded or unfolded.
17. Within the bag 19, is stored the clear plastic cover to allow the trolley to be used in wet weather.
18. Figures 3 and 5 show the trolley in the folded position which is simply achieved by holding the trolley between the rubber grips 14, whilst simultaneously lifting the seat 8 and pulling up 900, thus interacting the movement necessary to park the wheels 13, and lower sub frame 6, in the folded position. Once this is achieved the upper frame 1, can be folded forward and downward behind the parked seat 8, approximately 1800 as shown.
Claims (15)
1. The claim to this invention is that of a folding combined golf trolley, cart or trundler incorporating integral golf club bag and storage facilities together with a fold down seat, hereafter called 'The Trolley'.
2. The Trolley in claim 1 consists of a upper and lower folding tubular frame, each secured together by a pair of quick release thumb screws. The upper frame consists of a twin handle push/pull grip (pram type).
3. The Trolley in claim 2 has a sub frame attached the lower frame by means of sliding action, pivoted off of the wheel axis.
4. The Trolley in claim 3 has a gallows style seat support off of to lower frame which is in turn connected to the lower sub frame, thus folding and unfolding simultaneously
5. The seat in the previous claim has a hinged top to provide storage via a zip fastener.
6. The Trolley in claim five has facilities on one side to carry upto nine individually housed irons and one putter, these are carried in the unconventional up-right position (head down-wards) complete with club identification on the bag.
7. On the opposite side of the trolley to that described in claim six, there are four plastic sleeves to provide accommodation for upto four woods, these are carried in the conventional head-up position.
8. The woods described in claim seven also have a rubber securing clip mounted on the top of the lower frame to prevent excess movement and so prevent scuffing.
9. The Trolley in previous claims has a storage facility for a rolled umbrella mounted centrally between the four plastic sleeves.
10. The Trolley in previous claims has a storage bag for such items as shoes, wet weather clothing and refreshments.
This is accessible via a flap and zip fastener.
11. The flap mentioned in claim ten has built in accommodation for upto five golf tees, this is mounted on the front of a pocket for accommodating score card holder.
12. The Trolley in previous claims once folded, can be carried by hand or transported without removal of any of the clubs, accessories or wheels.
13. The Trolley in previous claims is free standing when folded with the seat still usable.
14. The Trolley in previous claims has a clear plastic overall covering and access flap top for wet weather usage.
