Abstract

The device consists of a separate tray and a folding support frame. The tray rests on the frame during operation, to collect cuttings from hedges and shrubs. The complete unit is designed to fold flat for storing and packaging.

Description

THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A BORDER PLANT PROTECTOR Background - Most domestic properties have gardens where larger plants and hedges overhang or overgrow smaller plants and borders or lawned areas.
There are other particular cases where perimeter fences need to be maintained by creosote or other coatings or weather proofing. Adjacent border areas are vulnerable to splashing which can cause damage.
Essential Technical Features This invention embodies a frame and removable tray to protect the areas at risk, within the limits of the size of the device. The frame and tray are light, highly portable, easy to store, simple to handle, maintenance free, no mechanical parts, extremely durable, guaranteeable.
The method of use is that the frame is placed in position next to the area to be worked, the tray is located on the frame to catch the debris or clippings. Periodically the tray is emptied and the frame is moved along the line of the job in hand.
Example A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of diagrams of shape, sizes, materials and construction.
Page 1 shows the four component parts of a) back support frame with hinge sockets, b) and c) size frames with hinge inserts, d) detachable tray with support/securing bar (drilled to provide locating holes to match the protrusions on the side frames) and with lip and base section of tray assembled onto the securing bar.
Page 2 shows the tray in detail (which is easily removed and positioned on the frame).
Page 3 shows the complete concept with the tray above the frame. The size is variable as to preference, the dimensions shown are for guidance and alternatives are available.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims A practical, easy to use, light weight device, which should facilitate the task of cutting hedges, whether with a border or not. With a versatile application in respect of protecting plants from falling objects and collecting debris as it falls, thus saving considerable time and effort in clearing up after the job of cutting and pruning, and general maintenance of hedges and shrubs and small trees.
    The device is also usable to protect areas of garden when maintaining fences, and applying weed killer.
