Abstract

225,707. Higginbotham, F. Dec. 10, 1923. Metal pipes.-A gutter nozzle is formed with a spigot portion 1 for engaging the fall pipe, and an upper portion 2 which is not circular in section and is joined by a tapering portion 3 to the spigot portion. The upper portion is provided with a flange for attachment to a wooden gutter 13, or with a portion 15 of a metal gutter; it is slotted at 6 to receive supporting arms on a grating 7. This grating has a central aperture other than circular to prevent it from being blocked by a ball or similar round object, and has also radiating arms some of which 9 support the grating on a seat, while others are shortened and bent and sharpened to points 10 to prevent the passage of rats upwards along the pipe. The upper nozzle portion is also provided with a front aperture 5, through which water may flow away from the house in the event of the fall pipe becoming choked.
