Abstract

The invention relates to a woven fabric, e.g. a high tenacity nylon Oxford cloth, which has high breaking strength and tearing strength and is suitable for making a tent, bag or raincoat. The fabric utilizes nylon high tenacity yarn which has yarn count of 220 D and fabric count of 25 to 27 ends/cm and 20 to 25 picks/cm. Finally, the fabric is dyed through the use of so-called metal complex dye stuff.

Description

WOVEN FABRIC The present invention is generally related to woven fabric, particularly but not exclusively high tenacity nylon Oxford cloth, which is suitable for making a tent, bag, raincoat or any object requiring high strength and water resisting capacity.
Whilst a woven fabric is known, it uses yarn count of 200 to 210 D and has fabric count of under 26 ends/cm and under 20 picks/cm. Although this type of fabric can have relatively high tearing and breaking strength, it is subject to the disadvantage that when, for example, a tent is made of this conventional fabric, it often fails as wind gusts occur.
A test result from the China Textile Testing and Research Centre, an authority of textile products in Taiwan, Republic of China, has shown that the subjected conventional fabric has warpwise breaking strength of 1053.6 N/Scm by using SABS method 93-1989; warp tearing strength of 64.2 N and filling tearing strength of 51.6 N respectively by using SABS method 410.4.2, and colour fastness up to 4 by AATCC 16A-1988.
According to the invention there is provided a woven fabric comprising nylon high tenacity yarn which has yarn count of 202 to 220 D and fabric count of 25 to 27 ends/cm and 20 to 25 picks/cm, the fabric being dyed through metal complex dyed stuff.
Therefore, it is an objective of the present invention to provide a high tearing and breaking woven fabric which resolves the problems that often occur to conventional woven fabrics.
Other objectives and advantages will be appreciated as the invention becomes better understood by reference to the following description, by way of example.
In the preferred embodiment nylon high tenacity yarn, which has yarn count of 202 to 220 D, and fabric count of 25 to 27 ends/cm and 20 to 25 picks/cm respectively is used to form a 75 to 79 inches woven fabric, which consequently, is passed through metal complex dyed stuff to obtain a dark green, blue or brown colour.
This particular woven fabric when submitted to the China Textile Testing and Research Centre, resulted in a test report tabulated as follows: Item tested Test Result Yarn Count warp 203.6 (D) filling 210.7 Fabric Count Ends/cm 25.8 Picks/cm 20.3 Breaking Warpwise 1053.6 Strength fillingwise 744.9 (N/Scm) Tearing Warp 64.2 Strength (N) Filling 51.6 Colour Fastness - Light 4 Up It will be appreciated that the fabric so made according to the present invention is stronger in comparison with those of the prior art, and therefore, accomplishes the objectives set forth above.
