Abstract

The unit comprises an electric motor 6 having an offset weight 5 fitted to its drive shaft for producing vibration, the motor being suspended by springs 8 from a board 9 which is itself supported by springs 3 mounted on cross bars 2. The cross bars fit into a wooden case 1 and the whole is covered by foam rubber sheet and leather. The unit may be mounted within a stool or a number of the units may be mounted within a couch. <IMAGE>

Description

(PANEL A) Specification Vibrating Massage Unit The structure of the unit is such that an electric motor (No6) has an off set counter weight fitted to the drive shaft.
The electric motor is suspended by two springs (No8) to the underside of a board (No9) which is supported by four springs (No3) that are mounted on two cross bars (No2) which are fitted into a wooden case (Nol) The whole is covered by a sheet of foam rubber (NolO) and then by a sheet of leather cloth or suitable material.
When the electric motor is switched on, the rotating off set counter weight sets up a vibrating motion which is transfered via the board through the foam rubber to the surface of the unit One or more units can be mounted in a wooden frame work of suitable size to a make up massage tables of any size.
Reference to Drawing No 1 Is a wooden box being the body of the Massage Unit No 2 Are wooden bearer bars that fit across the box (to support) No 3 which are four springs that attach to the board No9, one on each corner No 4 is the lower retaining clip that holds the electric motor No6 No 5 is a counter weight that fits onto the spindle of the electric motor with the hole at one end to make it off set No 6 is a fractional horse power electric motor No 7 is the upper retaining clip to hold the electric motor No6 No 8 are two springs that fit onto and hold the electric motor and attach to the centre of the board No9 No 9 is a board which is supported by four springs No3 an has two springs (No8) attached to the centre of the underside.
No 10 is a sheet of foam rubber that covers the top of the unit No 11 is a sheet of leather cloth to cover the entire unit.
(PANEL A) The specific embodiment of the invention will now be explained with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows an exploded view of all the component parts with relevant reference numbers relating to the key in the reference to the drawing.
Figure 2 shows the structure in exploded view of the electric motor 6 its retaining clips 4 and 7 and the springs 8 by which the motor is suspended.
Figure 3 shows the electric motor 6 with its counterweight 5 and suspension springs 8 in the position where it is being offered up to its location below the board 9 which is supported by four springs that are mounted on the bearer bars 2.
Figure 4 is the box in which the unit is housed.
Figure 5 shows the complete stool 1 housing a single Vibrating Massage Unit.
Figure 6 shows the couch into which eight Vibrating Massage Units are housed.

Claims (1)

  1. This invention relates to a massage unit which can be mounted within a stool to become a massage stool and a number of such units can be mounted within a couch upon which a person would lie to receive massage.
This invention provides a form of massage movement by a mechanical method that may be increased or decreased according to the speed of the electric motor.
