Abstract
A sickbed comprising an upper frame (10) bilaterally liftably secured to a fixed lower frame (12) through preferably two hydroelectric actuators (24, 26). The frame (10) supports a sponge mattress (38) which has an electric blanket (48) fastened therein at the top. A vibrator (36) and an ultra long-wave oscillator (13) are attached to the upper frame on the bottom to produce vibration and ultra long waves respectively for massage therapy. A plurality of electric fans 11, 21, 31 are also attached to the upper frame on the bottom for ventilation. A controller (15) is reachable to the patient in the bed for controlling the operation of the actuators (24, 26), the electric blanket (48), the vibrator (36) and the ultra long-wave oscillator (13). <IMAGE>
Description
STRUCTURE OF SICKBED
The invention relates to sickbeds, and more particularly to a sickbed which is bilaterally adjustable, having a motor-operated vibrator, an ultra-long uave oscillator, several electric fans and a mattress covered with an electric blanket respectively for keeping a patient comfort and warm.
A sickbed in a hospital room in the medical department of a hospital is a bed specially designed to comfort a patient. A conventional sickbed generally has an adjustable wedge which can be lifted to support the back of the patient in the bed. However, the adjustable wedge of a sickbed is generally controlled through a hand-driven crank. It is very inconvenient to adjust the angular position of the adjustable wedge by a patient. The present invention is designed to eliminate this problem, and simultaneously to provide various other functions to comfort the patient in the bed, by means of controlling a centralized controller which is reachable to the patient.
The main object of the present invention is to provide a sickbed which is bilaterally adjustable.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a sickbed which has means to produce vibration and ultra-long uaves for massage therapy, means for good ventilation, and means to produce heat for warming the patient in the bed.
Still, another object of the present invention is to provide a sickbed which comprises a centralized controller reachable to the patient in the bed for various functional control.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by uay of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is an end vieu of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, in which Drawing A illustrates a controller according to the present invention;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional view taken on part
B of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 illustrates the operation of the present invention, in which one side of the mattress is adjusted upward;
Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken on part
C of Fig. 1;
Fig. 5 is a partly sectional view of the overlapped mattresses; and
Fig. 6 is a bottom vieu of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to the various drawings attached herewith, a detailed description of the structural features of "a Sickbed " of the present invention is as follows:
Turning nou to the annexed drauings in greater detail, therein illustrated is a sickbed embodying the present invention and generally comprised of an upper bedstead 10, a lower bedstead 12, and two sponge mattresses 38, 40. The upper bedstead 10 is comprised of four subframe sections 14, 16, 18, 20 respectively connected together side by side. Four swiveled frames with a caster each 22 are respectively attached to the four bottom corners of the lower bedstead 12 so that it can be moved easily.
There are two hydroelectric actuators 24, 26 are respectively attached to the lower bedstead 12 at the bottom for bilaterally adjusting the angular position of the mattresses 38, 40. There are also two L-shaped rods 32, 34 bilaterally attached to the lower bedstead 12 at the bottom.
Each L-shaped rod 32 or 34 comprises a longer rod portion pivoted to the side sub-frame section 14 or 20 through a connection, and a shorter rod portion pivoted to the pushpull actuating rod 28 or 30 of the hydroelectric actuator 24 or 26.
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, the hydroelectric actuators 24, 26 are respectively connected to a power supply through power cord 42. Once the hydroelectric actuator 24 or 26 is turned on, the push-pull actuating rod 28 or 30 is moved to push the shorter rod portion of the connected Lshaped rod 34 permitting the longer rod portion of the connected L-shaped rod 34 to slowly move up the sub-frame sections 14, 16 or 18, 20. The lower mattress 38 is fixedly attached to the upper bedstead 10 and comprised of four sections respectively connected together side by side.
Once the sub-frame sections 14, 16 or 18, 20 are lifted, the left or right-handed two sections of the lower mattress 38 are simultaneously lifted. Through the control of a programmable controller, the sub-frame sections 14, 16 or 18, 20 can be automatically lifted according to pre-determined setting.
Referring to Fig. 4, a motor-operated vibrator 36 is attached to the upper bedstead 10 at the bottom, which comprises an eccentric uheel 44 carried to rotate by a motor (not shown) and connected to an external pouer supply through a power cord 46. Once the motor-operated vibrator 36 is electrically connected, the eccentric wheel 44 is rotated to produce vibration which is transferred to stir up the muscles of a patient through the sponge mattresses 38, 40.
Referring to Fig. 5, the upper sponge mattress 40 is movably mounted on the top of the fixed lower sponge mattress 38 and covered with an electric blanket 48 which is comprised of an electric heating coil 50 covered inside an insulator layer to produce heat for keeping the body of a patient warm.
Referring to Fig. 6, there is provided an ultra long-wave oscillator 13 mounted on the upper bedstead 10 at a location right to the motor-operated vibrator 36, which produces oscillating waves by means of magnetic difference, for massaging the head of the patient in the bed. There are also provided three electric fans 11, 21, 31, respectively mounted on the upper bedstead 10 at suitable locations for good ventilation.
Please refer to Fig. 1 again. There is provided a controller 15 set at a location reachable to the patient in the bed for controlling the operation of the present invention, in which t, R buttons are for adjusting the angle position of the left or right side of the upper bedstead 10; M button is for controlling the operation of the motor-operated vibrator 36; T button is for temperature control of the electric blanket 48; S button is for controlling time-setting of a timer; A/C button is for hospital room air-conditioner control; W button is for controlling the operation of the ultra long-wave oscillator 13; A button is for controlling the electric fans 11, 21, 31.
