Abstract

A plastic tube comprising a PVC outer tube 1 and a polypropylene or polyethylene inner tube 2. The outer tube 1 has a plurality of lengthwise straight grooves 11 in the inner surface and the inner tube 2 has the same number and size of lengthwise straight projections 21 in the outer surface to fit closely in said grooves 11 in the outer tube 1 when the outer and the inner tubes are assembled together. The composite tube has the characteristics of easy joining and of no pollution to water to be transported therein. <IMAGE>

Description

PLASTIC TUBE At present, plastic tubes for transporting drinking water or liquid are made of PE (poly ethylene), PP (poly propylene) or PVC (poly vinyl chloride), but pure PE or PP tubes have no capillary holes so that they are quite difficult to join together. The greatest advantage is that they have no toxin, and PVC tubes can be heated soft to be joined together before they harden. Nevertheless, PVC tubes can give off dioxin C12H4 02C14, a highly toxic chemical contaminant when heated too hot, so if they are used for transporting drinking water, great care has to be taken in processing. The present invention has been devised to provide a plastic tube which is safe for transporting drinking water and easy to join together.
The plastic tube in the present invention comprises an outer tube made of PVC and an inner tube made of PP or PE, having the hard PVC section interlocking with the soft PP or PE section so that it is easy to join sections together.
This makes use of the properties of PVC and it does not pollute drinking water or liquid to be transported therein thus making use of the non-toxic property of PP and PE.
The inner tube may have a plurality of lengthwise straight projections on the outer surface and the outer tube may have the same number and size of lengthwise straight grooves to fit closely with said projections when both tubes are assembled together.
Brief Description Of The Drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the plastic tube in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of the plastic tube in the present invention.
Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of the first embodiment of the plastic tube in the present invention.
Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of the second embodiment of the plastic tube in the present invention.
Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view of the third embodiment of the plastic tube in the present invention.
Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view of the fourth embodiment of the plastic tube in the present invention.
The plastic tube according to the present invention, as shown in Fig. 1, comprises outer tube 1 made of PVC and inner tube 2 made of non-toxic PE or PP. Inner tube 2 is soft and provided on the outer surface with a plurality of lengthwise straight projections 21, which has the upper wider than the lower. Outer tube 1 has on the inner surface the same number and size of lengthwise straight grooves 11 as said projections 21 of inner tube 2 so that both 11 and 21 can closely fit with each other in combining both the tubes 1 and 2.
As shown in Fig. 2, the non-toxic inner tube of this plastic tube contacts with drinking water without any danger of pollution of the water in transporting it, as the PVC outer tube is separated by the inner tube from contacting water to be transported therein.
Next, as shown in Figs. 3, 4, 5 and 6, the configuration of the projections 21 and the grooves 11 fitting closely with each other can be widely changed to have a profile which is trapezoid, oval, lozenge-shaped etc., as long as the outer and the inner tube do not separate from each other and fit with each other closely.
The PVC section of this plastic tube can be made use of for joining and the non-toxic PP or PE section for contact with water in transporting it, and this feature is quite different from the PP, PE or PVC tube made of a single material. This tube is especially advantageous for use in a cold land or an area where earthquakes often occur.

Claims (5)

CLAIMS:
1. A plastic tube comprising an outer tube made of PVC and an inner soft tube made of non-toxic PE (poly ethylene) or PP (poly propylene).
2. A plastic tube as claimed in claim 1, having the hard PVC section interlocking with the soft PP or PE section so that it is easy to join sections together.
3. A plastic tube as claimed in claim 1, wherein the inner tube has a plurality of lengthwise straight projections on the outer surface and the outer tube has on the inner surface the same number and size of lengthwise straight grooves for said projections on the inner tube to fit closely to prevent the tubes from separating from each other after assembly.
4. A plastic tube as claimed in claim 3, wherein the profile of the lengthwise straight projections and grooves is trapezoid, oval, lozenge-shaped or polygonal, etc.
5. A plastic tube as claimed in claim 1 substantially as disclosed herein with reference to any of the accompanying drawings.
