Abstract
A sheet (1) for packaging, eg waste, includes means (4, 5), eg adhesive strips, whereby it can be converted from a sheet (1) into an enveloping package for material. The sheet (1) can be arranged to receive waste during a process and then be folded at 2, secured by strip 4, rolled to form a package for the waste deposited on it, perforations 3 then being torn to provide a flap which is inserted inside the package to secure the waste, and the roll secured by strip 5. <IMAGE>
Description
WRAP AND ROLL WASTE DISPOSAL PRODUCT
This invention relates to a wrap and roll waste disposal product.
Waste disposal products usually consist of a preformed bag, the waste having to be collected after the work is completed. The usual bag offers no means of protecting the working area.
According to the present invention there is provided a wrap and roll waste disposal product which comprises a flat sheet to protect immediate working area and collect waste as it produced plus a means and method of securing the completed compact disposable package.
A drawing is enclosed in which:
Figure 1 shows the sheet opened out ready for use
Figure 2 illustrates the sheet folded after collection of
rubbish/waste
Figure 3 shows the wrapping up process
Figure 4 shows finished disposable package
Referring to the drawing Figure 1. the wrap and roll waste disposal product comprises of a sheet of flexible plastic type waterproof material 1 which can be folded 2 for convenience of packaging with two short heat tenderised perforations 3 situated parallel to and either side of a lengthways centre line/fold, running from one edge.
A coating of fast bonding waterproof adhesive covered with a waterproof removeable strip 4 runs along the length of the material near to the edge stopping opposite to where the heat tenderised perforations end. Another coating of fast bonding waterproof adhesive covered by a waterproof removeable strip 5 runs down the side of the sheet near to the edge at 900 to 4 starting at the top of the sheet and stopping just before the perforations 3.
It is envisaged that the unfolded sheet be placed in a position where the rubbish/waste material will fall onto the sheet whilst work is in progress.
When the work is completed or sheet is filled Figure 2.
the lengthways edges are brought together, the protective covering removed 4 and the two edges bond together.
The bonded sheet is then rolled Figure 3 from the end opposite the short adhesive strip 5 to a position just short of the perforations 3. The two strips of perforations 3 are then torn forming two flaps. The flap without adhesive should be folded inside in such a way to secure the waste within the roll. The protective covering is then removed from the adhesive on the other flap which is bonded to the roll in such a way as to form a secure package Figure 4.
Claims (25)
1. A sheet of flexible material provided with securement means and disposable in a first open configuration in which it can receive material and a second configuration wherein said material is enfolded and the securement means operate to form the sheet into a container.
2. A sheet of as claimed in claim 1 wherein the securement means includes one or more strips of an activatable adhesive.
3. A sheet as claimed in claim 1 wherein the securement means includes a sliding fastener.
4. A sheet as claimed in claim 1 wherein the securement means includes spaced apart fasteners such as press studs.
5. A sheet as claimed in claim 2 wherein the adhesive is rendered activatable by being covered with a protective removable cover.
6. A sheet as claimed in claim 2 or 3 wherein the sheet is rectangular and a securement means is provided along one edge and along half of an adjacent edge.
7. A sheet as claimed in claim 2, 3 or 4 wherein the sheet has a fold line parallel to said longer securement means.
8. A sheet as claimed in claim 7 wherein that side of the sheet of which the edge provided with a securement strip is separate or separable from other side so that after the partial forming of a container, that side with the securement strip can form a flap which can secure the sheet and its contents into a package for disposal.
9. A sheet as claimed in claim 7 or 8 wherein the side which has said securement means along substantially its entire length is a longer side of an oblong sheet, the sheet being adapted to be folded longitudinally to contain material and then rolled, the other length of securement material acting to close the roll and form a package.
10. A sheet as claimed in claim 2, 3 or 4 wherein one end portion of the sheet is arranged so as to consist of or be capable of being formed into a closure flap bearing the securement material.
11. A sheet as claimed in any of claims 1 to 10 and being a waste receptacle.
12. A method of packaging which includes the step of arranging a sheet in an open condition, the sheet being provided with securement means which are capable of converting said sheet into a container and a secured package, placing material on the sheet, shaping the sheet around the material to form a container, said securement means serving to form the sheet into said container and to form a secure package of the sheet containing the material.
13. A method as claimed in claim 12 wherein the material is waste for disposal.
13. A method as claimed in claim 12 wherein'the securement means consists of one or more strips of adhesive.
14. A method as claimed in claim 13 wherein the strips of adhesive are discontinuous.
15. A method as claimed in claim 13 or 14 wherein the adhesive is a tacky adhesive.
16. A method as claimed in claim 13, 14 or 15 wherein the adhesive is covered by a removable protective strip
17. A method as claimed in claim 12 wherein the fastener is a clasp fastener or a series of fasteners such as press studs.
18. A method as claimed in any of claims 12 to 17 wherein the sheet is laid flat on a working surface.
19. A method of collecting and disposing waste including the steps of providing a sheet as claimed in any of claims 1 to 11, spreading it to an open position, dispersing waste on the sheet, forming the sheet to contain the waste and securing the sheet by means of securement means to form a closed package.
20. A method of performing a waste-generating operation including coyering a working surface with a sheet as claimed in any of claims 1 to 12, the sheet being in an open condition, performing the operation so as to generate waste which falls onto the sheet, and then enfolding the waste within the sheet and actuating the securement means to form a container with the waste inside and securing the container to form a package.
21. A sheet as claimed in any of claims 1 to 11 and made of flexible plastics material.
22. A sheet as claimed in any of claims 1 to 11 and made of paper.
23. A sheet capable of forming a container and package, substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
24. A method of collecting and disposing of waste substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
25. A method of performing a waste-generating operation substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
