Reciprocating-mould-table machines ; moulding-machines ; feeding; delivery; cleaning-apparatus ; coating-apparatus; strickles; moulds. - A machine for moulding fictile material comprises a charge delivery means arranged above a fixed anvil adapted to support a mould box which is movable from this position to an inverted position above an unloading table. As shown in Fig. 1, a pair of mould boxes 84 are carried by arms 79, 80 operable simultaneously through a rack 76 engaging segmental pinions 75 whereby the moulds are positioned alternately upon a fixed anvil 21 and above unloading tables 28. Above the anvil is a hopper comprised of sections 5, 6 hinged together at 3 and adapted to be opened by springs 8 when released by closing-cams 15, 16, having cut-away portions 18 designed to effect a sudden discharge. Each mould box comprises a frame 84 telescopically engaging a base member 87 and fitted with pallet-securing latches 92. The latches are moved to closing position by springs but when beneath the hopper are disengaged by fixed posts upstanding from the anvil 21. After a charge has been dropped into the mould, it is strickled by a rotary slicker, driven by an electromotor, which is advanced across the mould by a fluid-operated ram; a pallet is then applied by hand or automatically; and the rack 76 is next operated to transfer the mould to the unloading table, the latches 92 engaging the pallet as the mould is lifted. Each unloading table comprises a pair of pallet-supporting rails resiliently carried upon a frame 29; and a frame 51, reciprocated by a cam 59, which carries posts 99 adapted firstly to disengage the latches and then to raise the mould clear of the moulded products, and also stops adapted through levers 62 and links 60 to depress the pallet-supporting rails to deposit the loaded pallet upon a delivery belt 47. A rotary brush 128, driven by an electromotor and advanced by a ram, clears the mould bottom after removal of the pallet and before return of the mould to the anvil 21. The mould is sanded, before charging, by sand from a hopper 102 sprayed by air jets 106 through nozzles 104 and directed into the mould by a baffle 107. Fig. 12 shows means for automatically supplying pallets to the moulds, comprising a pallet magazine 129 having a bottom member 132 level with the top of the mould from which the lowermost pallet is delivered by a pusher 134 operated by a pneumatic piston. Fig. 17 shows a modified mould box in which the mould frame 150 carries screwed rods 162 along which slides a member 153 carrying the mould bottom 151, the movement of which is limited by lock-nuts 164, 165. Fig. 15 shows a modified unloading table 167 supported by links 168 and springs 170 and raised and lowered by a crank disc 171 and connecting-rod 172. The mould box 173 is furnished with pallet latches 176 pivoted to brackets 175 and backed by springs 177, the latches being disengaged by lugs 179 on the table 167 engaging cam surfaces 178. Fig. 18 shows a modified machine in which the hopper 180 is controlled at one side by a cam 182 and at the other by a pneumatic piston 184 ; and in which the moulds 192 are joumaled in a reciprocating carriage 193 and are turned by segmental gears 197 engaging fixed racks 199.
