Abstract
Nozzle (1) comprises an inlet chamber (3) terminating in two supply channels (5, 6). At least one supply channel (5) has a cross section which is variable, so that the material flow can be increased on critical portions, e.g. the corner radii of a pane, whereby a neatly shaped polyurethane (PUR) bead is obtained along the whole circumference of the pane. The nozzle can be used for producing profiled PUR beads along the circumference of e.g. car panes. <IMAGE>
Description
@OZZLE FOR EXTRUDING n 3 @@@FILED POLYURETHANE @EAD This invention relates to a nozzle for extruding a profiled polyurethane bead (PUP bead) along the circumference of a pane surface.
As for the corner radii of the pane surface, it is difficult to achieve a homogeneous profile for the OUR bead.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a nozzle with the aid of which a neatly shaped profile of the PIJR bead can be achieved in an easy and simple way along the whole circumference of tre pane.
This object is attained through the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.
The nozzle of the invention comprises an inlet chamber which terminates in two supply channels that are provided for producing different portions of the @UR bead. The cross section of at least one of said two supply channels is variable, so that a change in the flow rate, e.g. an increase in the flow rate for the 3t! bead portion facing away from the pane, can thereby be achieved in the desired regions, in particular the corner radii of a pane surface.
Developments of the invention will become apparent from the subclaims.
The invention shall now be described with reference to an embodiment taken in connunction with the drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section through the nozzle of the
invention; FITS. 2 is a top view on the nozzle of the invention;
FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the nozzle of the invention;
FIG. 4 shows a profile plate adapted to be secured to the
nozzle;
FIG. 5 is a front view of the nozzle with profile plate; is z is a front view of the nozzle with fastening means of
the profile plate and vertical distance wheel; and -IG. 7 shows an adjusting screw which is connectable to the
nozzle for varying the cross section of a supply
channel.
n nozzle 1 as is illustrated in TC 1-3 is secured by means of a screw thread 2 to an extruding apparatus (not shown). thread 2 surrounds an inlet chamber 3 into which liquid polyurethane material (pUo) is passed from the extruding apparatus. The material flow distributicn can be optimized through the screw-in depth of screw thread 2 on the extruding apparatus an account of the different nozzle height distances and thus the different sizes of inlet chamber 3.
'hen the desired screw-in depth is reached, the position is fixed.
This can e.g. be accomplished through a screw (not shown) which is arranged in a direction transverse to wall 4 and rests on the corresponding screw thread of the extruding apparatus. If the screw thread is not to be worn, it is also possible to use a threaded insert which is adjustably arranged in a direction transverse to wall 4. The flanks of the thread are then clamped relative to each other by an adjusting movement.
Inlet chamber 3 terminates in first and second supply channels 5 and 5 whose lower ends are respectively defined by a profile plate 7. Profile plate 7 has a hollow mold of the desired profile for a polyurethane bead (PUR bead) (FIG. 4).
Profile plate 7 is inserted into a recess of nozzle 1 (FIG. 5) and fixed thereonto. This mounting is accomplished through a clamping plate ? which is adapted to be screwed to the nozzle by means of a screw c and presses profile plate 7 against nozzle 1. Hence, profile plate 7 is replaceably arranged to produce any profiles provided on different profile plates.
The cross section of the first supply channel 5 is variable, whereby the flow rate can be changed. Such a regulating operation can e.g. be carried out by means of an adjusting screw 10 which is arranged in a direction transverse to wall 4 of nozzle 1 and projects into supply channel 5. as illustrated in FIG. 7, adjusting screw 10 has a radius R for achieving a different flow rate of the #UR material through different angular positions of adjusting screw 10. Of course, other known shut-off devices can also be used for flow control operations instead of adjusting screw 10. moreover, the cross section of the second supply channel 6 may also be varied if necessary.
The material flow is preferably controlled automatically. To this end, a sensing means senses the corner radius portions of the pane, a computing means is provided for determining the necessary flow rates in supply channels 5 and 9, and a control means adjusts the adjusting means for regulating the cross section of supply channel 5 or those of supply channels 5 and 9.
As illustrated in FIG. 5, a vertical distance wheel 11 is adjustably arranged on nozzle 1 for achieving a uniform spacing of nozzle 1 from the pane surface.
It is also possible to arrange more than two supply channels in nozzle 1 for producing special profiles on oUR beads.
