Abstract

224,378. Stott, J. H. Nov. 3, 1923. Laminar springs; gaiters.-A device for reducing the effective span of a laminated spring after a predetermined amount of flexure of the spring and so providing a graduated suspension comprises a rigid member formed of two channels 1, 13 secured together and adapted to be clamped on any suitable portion of the spring and provided with one or more adjustable stops placed in one or more apertures in the channel 1. The stop may comprise a rubber or like buffer 12 carried by a shank 9 secured in a bush 7. The member may be clamped to the spring by means of screwed buffers 11 and studs 15 provided with rollers 16. A rebound stop comprising a stud 24 may be provided. The channels 1, 13 comprise a gaiter and may be made dustproof in any suitable way. Fig. 5 shows a stop comprising a rubber buffer 20 having a recessed stop 22.
