Description
lifATERPROOF WEAR
The present invention relates generally to waterproof wear of air permeability and moisture absorption, and more particularly to waterproof wear such as a polo shirt or a vest, having portions made of waterproofed cloth, wherein these portions include a collar, a shoulder yoke, sleeves and a back body.
Sport wear or casual wear, such as a polo shirt or a vest, is made of cloth knitted with material superior in moisture absorption such as cotton, wool or mixed yarn thereof with synthetic fiber so as to allow the mobility of the wearer's body and avoid the confinement of sweat.
Such wear absorbs sweat because of its material having excellent moisture absorption. This merit is traded off by the equally high absorption of rain.
The wearer gets wet quickly. Golfers encountering rain have to wear a raincoat if they persist in the game.
The wearer is doubly clothed, thereby causing a sweaty atmosphere inside. The golfers must struggle to be free from the stuffy and sweaty atmosphere, and they lose concentration.
The waterproof wear of this invention, which overcomes the above-discussed and numerous other disadvantages and deficiencies of the prior art, comprises a front body, a back body, a collar, a shoulder yoke and sleeves, the collar, the shoulder yoke and the sleeves being made of waterproofed cloth, the front body being made of cloth with good air permeability and moisture absorption, and the back body either of said waterproofed cloth or said cloth with good air permeability and moisture absorption, each of said sleeves being a two-piece sleeve having a top sleeve made of the waterproofed cloth and an under sleeve made of cloth with good air permeability and moisture absorption.
According to another aspect of this invention the waterproof wear comprises 8 front body, a back body and e shoulder yoke, the shoulder yoke being made of waterproofed cloth, the front body of cloth with good air permeability and moisture absorption and the back body either of said waterproofed cloth or said cloth of good air permeability and moisture absorption.
In a preferred embodiment, the waterproofed shoulder yoke and sleeves including the waterproofed top sleeves are lined with meshed cloth.
In a preferred embodiment, the waterproof wear has an opening formed between the bottom edge of the back side of the shoulder yoke and the back body.
In a preferred embodiment, the waterproof wear has a waterproofed transverse rubber band or circular rib knit along the collar and the bottom.
In a preferred embodiment, the front body and the bac body are made of the same cloth with good moisture absorption and sewed together along the shoulder line, wherein the shoulder yoke is removably attached to the upper areas of the front body and the back body by fasteners.
The above-mentioned waterproofed cloth is preferably a quarter, reversible or tuck-reversible knit to which is applied a waterproof agent such as a derivative of silicone-base resin, fluorine-base resin or amino-base resin by means of pad-dry-curing, spraying, coating or the.like. The fastener includes buttons, hooks, hook-and-loop or the like.
Thus, the wear of the present invention makes possible objectives of (1) providing waterproof wear capable of preventing the wearer from getting wet in a shower, and (2) providing waterproof wear capable of protecting the wearer from becoming sweaty.
For a better understanding of the invention and to show how the same may be carried into effect reference will now be made, by way of example only, to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front view of the waterproof wear of an example according to the invention;
Figure 2 is a rear view of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a section view taken along the III-III line in Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a front view of the waterproof wear of a second example according to the invention
Figure 5 is a rear view of the waterproof wear of Figure 4;
Figure 6 is a section view taken along the IV- IV line in Figure 4;
Figure 7 is a front view of the waterproof wear of a third example according to the invention;
Figure 8 is a rear view of the waterproof wear of Figure 7; and
Figure 9 is a section view taken along the 111-Ill line in Figure 8.
Example 1
Referring to Figures 1 to 3, the waterproof wear of the invention will be described as a shirt. The illustrated shirt comprises a front body 1, a back body 2, a collar 3, a shoulder yoke 4, top sleeves 5, under sleeves 6, a breast pocket 7 and an underarm gusset 8. The front body 1, the under sleeves 6 and the breast pocket 7 are made of reversible cloth with the pattern of dapples knitted with cotton yarn, while the back body 2, the collar 3, the shoulder yoke 4 and the top sleeves 5 are made of the above cloth waterproofed with a fluorine-base water repellent agent, and the underarm gusset 8 of elastic cloth. The shoulder yoke 4 and the top sleeves 5 are lined with the meshed cloth 9 of the same shapes as the shoulder yoke 4 and the top sleeves 5, respectively (Figure 3).The top edge of the lining cloth 9 of the shoulder yoke 4, together with that of the shoulder yoke 4, is connected with the top edge of the front body 1, while the bottom edge thereof is not sewed to the top edge of the back body 2 but is hung down to form an opening 9a therebetween.
Example 2
The shirt of this example shown in Figures 4 to 6 comprises a front body 11, a back body 12, a collar 13, a shoulder yoke 14, sleeves 15, a breast pocket 16 and an underarm gusset 17. The front body 11, the back body 12 and the breast pocket 16 are made of jersey knitted with cotton yarn, while the collar 13, the shoulder yoke 14 and the sleeves 15 are made of the same waterproofed cloth as that in
Example 1, and the underarm gusset 17 of elastic cloth.
In this example, the front body 11 and the back body 12 extend to the shoulder line and are sewed together there (Figure 6). To these upper portions of the front body 11 and the back body 12, the removable shoulder yoke 14 is attached by a plurality of buttons 18 placed at edges thereof. The sleeve 15 are lined with the same meshed cloth as that in Example 1.
Example 3
Referring to Figures 7 to 9, a further example will be described as a vest. The illustrated vest comprises a front body 1, a back body 2, a shoulder yoke 4, a collar band 19, a bottom band 20 and open ings 21 for arms. The front body 1 and the openings 21 for arms are made of jersey knitted with cotton yarn, while the back body 2, the shoulder yoke 4, the collar band 19 and the bottom band 20 are made of waterproofed taffeta saturated with silicone-base resin. The shoulder yoke 4 is lined with the meshed lining cloth 9 in the same shape as the shoulder yoke 4 (Figure 9).
As is evident from the foregoing description, most wettable portions of a wear, such as the collar and shoulder yoke, are made of waterproofed cloth, and less wettable portions are made of cloth with good moisture absorption. Thus, the wearer is protected from getting wet to the skin when playing in a shower and from becoming sweaty. The wearer can enjoy doing sports even on rainy days without wearing a raincoat, and in addition, the wearer can be relieved from becoming sweaty.
The waterproofed back body will reinforce the waterproofness. The two-piece sleeves with under sleeves having good moisture absorption relieve the wearer from feeling stuffy in the body. The shoulder yoke lined with the meshed cloth will bring smoothness to the skin. The opening between the bottom edge of the back side of the shoulder yoke and the back body, not sewed together, will enhance air permeability.
Also, the removable shoulder yoke will allow the wearer to remove the shoulder yoke when entering indoors after playing in the rain. The room is protected against becoming wet.
