Abstract
A device for removing air or water from vehicle parts has a channel 1, in the free cross-section of which there extend, starting from the walls, helically continuous projecting webs 2. The helically arranged webs or lamellae serve for preventing the transmission of sound from outside. To inhibit this transmission of sound in an especially effective way, the pitch of the helix is selected as non-uniform, in order thereby to prevent the formation of stationary sound waves. <IMAGE>
Description
1 1 1 Device for removina air or water from vehicle parts The invention
relates to a device for removing air or water from vehicle parts, which'has a channel, in the free cross-section of which there extend, starting from the walls, helically continuous projecting webs or lamellae.
A device of this type is already to be taken as known from German Patent Specification number 3,021,871.
The helically extending webs or lainellae projecting from the inner walls of the device are intended at least greatly to reduce the entry of sound waves from outside the vehicle.
The present invention seeks to develop a device of the relevant generic type in such a way that its efficiency is further improved.
According to the present invention there is provided a device for removing air or water from vehicle parts, which has a channel, in the free cross-section of which there extend, starting from the walls, a helically continuous projecting web, or webs or lamellae, the pitch of the helix being non-uniform.
This in a simple way prevents the formation of stationary sound waves in the channel and ensures a reduction of noise transmission in a wide frequency range.
The subject of the invention will be explained in more detail below by means of an embodiment illustrated in the drawing.
The drawing shows a perspective view of a hose 1 with inner webs 2 extending helically, the helix thus generated being non-uniform, having different pitches to prevent the formation of stationary or constant sound waves. The different pitches correspond, in the drawing, to the different lengths of the zones a, b and c.
2 The constructional parts equipped according to the invention can be produced as piece goods (extruded section) or else also, for example, as a rubber moulding. The lamellae or webs can also be produced as a separate injection moulding and subsequently introduced into the channel.
If the device according to the invention is to serve for removing water from constructional parts, in regions in which there is only a slight descending gradient in the installed state the lamellae or webs can also run straight through in a longitudinal direction, so as not to impede the run-off of water.
1 1 3 claims 1. A device for removing air or water from vehicle parts, which has a channel, in the free cross-section of which there extend, starting from the walls, a helically continuous projecting web, or webs or lamellae, the pitch of the helix being non-uniform.
2. A device according to claim 1 wherein the channel comprises a hose.
3. A device according to claim 1 or 2 comprising an outer member and an inner member on which the web(s) or lamellae is/are formed, the inner member being insertable in the outer member.
4. A device for removing air or water from vehicle parts, substantially as described herein, with reference to, and as illustrated in, the accompanying drawing.
