Abstract

A display frame has external base sections 1 which are engaged with base corner joints 3 to provide a base framework. The display material is clamped at its edges by clamp sections 5 and is located into the base framework so as to interface with external base sections thereby stretching the display material. Cover parts 2 and 4 are provided to enclose display frame at its perimeter. After the display frame has been assembled a hanging hook 6 is attached to provide a method of mounting to a wall or hanging the frame from a beam. <IMAGE>

Description

DISPLAY FRAME.
This invention relates to a display frame.
Display frames are a well Known means of providing an external framework to support and contain mans kinds of display material.
By display material it is meant prints, posters, photographs, maps, technical drawings. tapestries tracings and canvasses.
Display frames are, however relatively expensive and once in use often difficult to reuse with different display materials. A disadvantage of manly display materials is their suscepti,bility to climatic changes, icli result in te display materials expanding or contracting. curling orwrinkling.
It is the object of tl.is invention to provide a display frame of the kind set forth in which are provided means for easy assembly and disassembly of the display frame, which enables the display material to be changed in a simple manner. The means b which the display material is mounted into the display frame provides continuous compensation for climatic changes and eliminates curling or wrinkling of the display material According to the present invention there is provided a display frame comprising: external frame, base sections, external frame top cover. base corner joints.
top corner covers, display material, clamp sections and display frame hanging hook.
The invent ion will no be described by way of example wi i h reference to the accompanying drawings. in which: - Figure 1 shows in section and plan view. the display frame in its assembled form.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of the display frame at one corner.
Figure 3 shows the clamp section and its location means to the display material Figure e -l shows the clamp sections in position on the display material Figure 5 and 5a illustrates in sectional views the external frame base and top independently and assembled with the display material clamp also in position.
Figure 6 illustrates a perspective view of the corner joint top ad bottom.
Figure 7 illustrates in perspective view the display frame hook.
Figure 8 illustrates the displays frame with a rigid sheet cower.

Figure 2 illustrates one corner of the display frame.
Base corner joints 3 are engaged into grooves 9 and 10 of external base frame sections 1 to provide base assembly of display frame. Display clamp section 5 is positioned on the edge of display material 8 and another display clamp section 5 slideably connected to display clamp 5. thereby clamping display material 8 between to display clamps. This procedure is carried out at variable points around the perimeter edge of the display material 8.
Referring now to Figures 3 and 4. the edge of display material 8 is engaged into base of display clamp section 5 and held while another displays clamp section 5 is slidably connected to the fist display clamp 5, whereby display material 8 is friction clamped to clamp sections 5, In figure 'l, te display material clamps 5 attached to display material 8 are positioned in the bottom of external frame base sections 1 thereby locating display material within the base perimeter of the display frame.The fin 7 is so shaped to provide flexible movement ahen in contact with side face 11 of the display material clamp section 5 thereby maintaining tension o)l all four perimeter edges of the display material 8 under all climatic conditions.
In Figure Sa the external frame top cover section 2 is shown in the assembled position this being attained by engaging clip detail 12 to top edge 14 of external frame base section 1 and pivotally engaging clip detail 13 to location point 15 of external frame base section 1. This procedure is repeated on other three perimeter sides of display frame.
In Figure G with reference to Figure 2. the top corner cover 4 is vertically engaged to base corner joint 3 by pushing down onto base corner joint 3 by pushing down onto vertical wall 16. Sides 17 of top corner cover 4 friction engage to edge face 18 of external frame top cover section 2 thereby further tensioning the display frame. This procedure is repeated for other three corners.
Referring to Figure 1 display frame hanging hook 6 is locked into the near face of external frame base section 1 by engaging tongues 19 into groove 20 of external frame base section l and then with a pivotal action engaging tongue 21 onto the outside face of esternal frame base section 1. This procedure can be adopted to locate hook either within the perimeter of the display frame or with the hook part 22 exposed at the frame edge. One. or more display frame hanging hooks m be used depending on the size of the displays frame.
In Figure 8 a rigid plastic sheet 23 can be added to cor the surface of display material 8 to provide protection from surface damage. colour fading and ultra-violet light. The plastic sheet 23 is laid ovr the display material and positioned to abut to the edge of display material clamps 5. The external top cover sections 2 and top corner covers 4 can then be located es previously described To disassemble the display frame the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.

Claims (6)

CLAlMS
1. A display frame comprising external frame base sections. external frame, top cover sections, base corner joints, top corner covers. display material clamp sections ad display frame hanging hook.
2. A display frame as claimed in Claim 1 wherein base frame means are provided by interchangeable components thereby creating a per imet ei' arrangement.
3. A display frame as claimed in Claim 1 or Claini 2 wherein a clamp means is provided at variable positions around the edge of display materials for location to the base frame.
4. A display frame as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein a clamp means is provided for engagement into base perimeter of display frame for maintaining tension within display frame.
5. A display frame as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 wherein a cover means is provided on the base frame in order to enclose display frame.
6. A display frame as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the base frame is provided with at least one hanging hook.
A A display frame as claimed in Claim 6 wherein a flat cover surface is provided in order to protect display material 8. A display frame substantially - as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 8 of the accompanying drawings.
