Description
"Draw-off Device in a Circular, Double-cylinder Knitting
Machine" pescription The invention relates to a circular, double-cylinder knitting machine for the production of socks and the like goods, wherein a draw-off or take-down device comprises one annular part rotatable with a needle cylinder, and a stationary annular part, one of which parts is provided with a screw-like surface to draw-off the fabric.
A double-cylinder circular knitting machine with the above mentioned draw-off device is known. Said device operates so that for example the upper take-down part with the screw-like surface rotates together with a needle cylinder and forces the fabric onto the lower take-down part which is stationary with regard to it. Said screw-like surface entrains the fabric and tensions it. At the beginning of knitting every individual fabric it is necessary to move both draw-off parts apart so that it is possible to get the welt of a newly knitted fabric between them and it is also necessary to ensure reverse motion and also correct pressure between both parts to realize the draw-off.
The object of the invention is to solve the abovementioned requirement, which is principally achieved in that the rotatable draw-off part is fixedly arranged on the ends of spring loaded vertical rods arranged axially shiftably and extending into the space of the fabric guidance.
An advantage of the invention is that the rods can be guided in the existing parts of the machine requiring no special guides, which greatly simplifies the device and the device does not take-up space and enables the fabric to be drawn-off upwards or downwards. The fact that the device does not take-up space inside the needle cylinder enables knitting of heavy fabrics from bulk yarns with the use of a less efficient fan.
The solution further enables simplification of the press-off sinkers control in the case that the take-down is performed in the direction upwards using the same principle by means of the rods. Another advantage is that actual rods serve as a device acting against twisting of the fabric.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig 1 is an axial section of the upper needle cylinder with illustrated control of the draw-off parts and press-off sinkers;
Fig 2 is a section along A-A according to Fig 1; and
Fig 3 is a side view of the control head with illustrated control of the draw-off parts and press-off sinkers.
A known double-cylinder circular knitting machine for the production of socks goods is provided with a lower and upper needle cylinder, of which only the upper needle cylinder 1 is illustrated to explain the invention, because the draw-off is performed in the upward direction. In the upper needle cylinder 1 there are press-off sinkers 2 located in grooved rings 3 and 4 which are connected together by vertical rods 5 the lower ends of which are screwed into the lower grooved ring 3 and shoulders of which bear against the upper grooved ring 4. Rods 5 are arranged alternately in a circle together with further vertical rods 6, as evident in Fig 2. On lower ends of vertical rods 6 is fixed upper draw-off part 7 having the shape of a ring with smooth working ends 71. Upper draw-off part 7 is located shiftably in an annular recess in lower grooved ring 3.
Vertical rods 6 pass through openings in said grooved rings 3 and 4. Vertical rods 5 and 6 are located shiftably in ring 8 which is fixed at the top of the upper needle cylinder 1. Also the upper grooved ring 4 is located shiftably in the upper needle cylinder 1. The other annular part 9 of the draw-off device is arranged stationarily in the lower needle cylinder. Its working surface is provided with a screw-like surface 91 being adjacent to the smooth working ends 71 of the upper draw-off part 7.
Compression springs 10 are disposed on the upper ends of vertical rods 6. Lower ends of compression springs 10 bear against shoulders on rods 6 and a ring 12 bears against the upper ends of compression springs 10. Ring 12 is fixed in this lower position by ring 13 bearing against balls 14.
Balls 14 are located in a channel created by circumferential shape arrangement of both said rings 13 and 14. Upper ends of vertical rods 6 are provided with threads into which are screwed nuts 15 serving to adjust the height of lift of the upper draw-off part 7. Followers 16 facing each other are screwed from the side into the ring 13, said followers 16 being movable in shaped slot 17 (Fig 3) formed in a cylindrical wall of a flanged control head 18 fixedly arranged on upper plate 19 of the machine. The slot 17 has the shape of an opened V.
Compression springs 20 are disposed on the upper ends of vertical rods 5, lower ends of springs 20 bear against the shoulders on rods 5 and a ring 21 bears against their upper ends. Ring 21 is fixed in this position by another ring 22 bearing against balls 23 which are located in a channel formed by circumferential shape arrangement of both said rings 21 and 22. Upper ends of vertical rods 5 are provided with threads onto which are screwed nuts 24 serving as stops. Followers 25, facing each other, screwed from the side into ring 22, said followers 25 being movable in inclined slots 26 formed in the flanged control head 18 under the slots 17.
Tube 27 of the draw-off device connected to the suction opening of a fan is further connected to the upper needle cylinder 1. The tube 27 extends upwards from the ring 8, ie it separates the control space from the fabric passage.
Further, one follower 16 is connected by means of a ball joint 28, a tie-rod 29 and a not shown kinematic transmission, with the machine control drum. Likewise, one follower 25 which is located under said follower 16, is connected by means of a ball joint 29', of a tie-rod 30 and a not shown kinematic transmission, with the machine control drum.
Operation of the above described device is as follows.
When knotting a fabric which us drawn-off by suction in the upward direction, the upper part 7 is in lower position so that it is urged towards the lower draw-off part 9, by the action of compression springs 10 which bear against the ring 12. Ring 12 is held in the lower position by the action of both followers 16 which are situated in the lowest positions in slots 17. Because vertical rods 5 and 6 rotate together with the needle cylinder 1, they bring the fabric being drawn-off and extending into the draw-off tube 27 into rotation.
After finishing the fabric, the upper draw-off part 7 is lifted by a command from the control drum to be able to knit the fabric welt. Tie-rod 29 pulls the ball joint 28 in the direction of the arrow S and the followers 16 move in the slot 17 upwards. Thus the ring 12 is relieved of the pressure of springs 10 which then lifts by nuts 15 also vertical rods 6 and thus the upper draw-off part 7.
At the beginning of knitting the welt it is suitable to lower the press-off sinkers 2 to catch-up the yarn, this is done by a command from the control drum, while the tie-rod 30 is moved against the direction of the arrow S. Ball joint 29 and followers 25 move downwards in the slot 26.
Ring 21 drops down and via the springs 20 it lowers also vertical rods 5 and thus the press-off sinkers 2.
After knitting the welt a command from the control drum moves the tie-rods 29 or 30 back to their original positions, Ring 12 lowers, due to the action of springs, vertical rods 6 and thus also the upper draw-off part 7.
Ring 21 then lifts by the nuts 24 vertical rods 5 and thus also the press-off sinkers 2.
During knitting it is possible to lift the upper drawoff part independently of the machine program by manual moving of the ball pin 28 against the direction of the arrow
S moving the followers 16 into the other arm of the slot 17.
This is suitable to relieve faulty fabric, etc. Various modifications can be performed within the scope of the invention. For example the device can be controlled by electromagnets being controlled by the machine computer instead of by the control drum. Further, rings 12 and 13, or 21 and 22 can be mounted on bearings. Further, instead of nuts 15 and 24 other stops can be used, or the vertical rods can be fixedly connected with the rings, etc.
