Abstract

An electrical box protector consists of a disposable polystyrene barrier. When the electrical box is recessed and wired, the box protector is inserted into the exposed face of the box which accommodates the cables. Plaster or cement can then be spread around and over the box. When the plaster or cement has set hard, the box protector can be removed leaving a clean and fully functional box. There may also be a perforated knock-out section in the middle of the box protector which can easily be removed allowing excess cables in the box to protrude through the box protector, if necessary. <IMAGE>

Description

ELECTRICAL BOX PROTECTION THIS INVENTION RELATES TO ELECTRICAL BOX PROTECTION.
ELECTRICAL BOXES ARE RECESSED INTO WALLS, ceilings and floors prior to the plastering or cementing of these areas. When the plaster or cement is applied to these areas they inevetably enter the electrical boxes causing a time consuming clean out procedure and possible damage to the earth terminal, adjustable lugs and electric cable.
THE PRNSENT INVENTION PROVIDES A BARRIER AGAINST ENTRY OF PLASTER OR CEMENT INTO THE ELECTRICAL BOXES. The barrier is polystyrene and is easily broken up and disposable. It has a push out centre piece to allow for excess cables to protrude.
A detailed description of the invention and its advantages will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig 1 Shows in perspective the unprotected electrical box with cables installed.
Fig 2 Illustrates the box protector and push out centre piece.
Fig 3 Shows electrical box with protector attached.
Fig 4 Shows electrical box with protector attached and excess cables protruding through push out section.
