Abstract
A skip loader has a steel framed chassis 13 supporting a loading pan 12 at ground level which is raised by an hydraulic ram 15. The loading pan pivots on a bearing 14 mounted in the chassis frame and the contents are tipped into the rubbish skip 11. The loading pan then lowers to ground level to complete the operation. The loader can be clamped to the skip by a clamp (19) (Fig. 2, not shown), and a removable tow bar (Fig. 3, not shown) can be provided for towing. <IMAGE>
Description
SKIP LOADER
This invention relates to a skip loader for safely loading a rubbish skip from a wheelbarrow.
The design of the skip loader consists of a loading pan into which rubbish is tipped. When operated the loading pan is raised and the contents discharged. The skip loader is portable and is secured to the skip by an adjustable clamp.
The skip loader requires little physical effort to operate and is a quick and safe way of getting rubbish from a wheelbarrow into a skip. The most common way is to use a wooden plank which is slow and dangerous especially when wet.
According to the present invention there is provided a secured steel loading pan at ground level which tapers into a shute and is supported on a steel frame. This is mounted on a pivot at the front and raised and lowered by an hydraulic ram to discharge the contents into the rubbish skip.
The skip loader has a steel chassis with pneumatic tyred wheels for transportation. The hydraulic system is powered by a petrol/diesel engine or electric motor driving an hydraulic pump with a lever control to operate.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows the skip loader secured to the skip in the operating position and the loading pan being filled by the wheelbarrow;
Figure 2 illustrates the skip loader secured to the skip and raised to the discharge position and the contents of the loading pan being discharged into the rubbish skip;
Figure 3 shows the skip loader with the tow bar fitted.
Referring to the drawing the skip loader consists of a welded steel loading pan tapering into a shute 12 (at ground level) which is supported on a steel frame 13.
This is mounted on a pivot 14 at the front and is raised and lowered by an hydraulic ram 15 to discharge the contents into the rubbish skip 11 (Fig. 2).
The skip loader has a steel chassis 13 mounted on pneumatic tyred wheels 16. A removable tow bar 21 (Fig.3) is fitted and secured by a locking pin 22 for towing.
The hydraulic system is powered by a small engine/electric motor 17 driving an hydraulic pump with a single lever control valve 18 for operating.
The skip loader is secured to the rubbish skip 11 by an adjustable clamp 19 and has adjustable feet 20 to give total support.
Claims (6)
1 A skip loader comprising a loading pan mounted to a chassis, which tapers into a shute in the form of a hopper secured to the chassis by pivoting means. The loading pan lifts upwards bymeans of a ram secured to the chassis and attached to the pivot, and the contents of the loading pan slide down the shute into a rubbish skip.
2 A skip loader as claimed in claim 1 when in the operating position is attached by means of an adjustable clamp securing the skip loader to the skip.
3 A skip loader as claimed in claim 1 wherein the loading pan would preferably be made of steel but could be alluminium or good quality plastic.
4 A skip loader as claimed in claim 1 or 3 wherein the pivoting means could be a variety of bearings preferably a plain bearing as the pivot does not rotate through 360 degrees.
5 A skip loader as claimed in claim 1 or 3, wherein the lifting means would preferably be by an hydraulic ram but could be a pneumatic ram or it could a scissor actioned screw.
6 A skip loader as claimed in claim 1, 3 or 5, wherein the ram pivot point on the shute is adjacent to the main pivoting means.
