Abstract
A stainless steel main body (10) has a large diameter hole (11) in its center and a piece of reinforced glass (20) fitted into the large-diameter hole (11). The main body (10) integrally comprises, at its inner edge, a holding part (15) of pi-shape sectional shape opening outward in the radial direction from the large-diameter hole (11). A separate stainless steel ring (16) is provided which has an inner brim directly or indirectly fixed by this holding pan (15) and an integral cylindrical glass fitting part (17) extending downward therefrom with an inwardly extending flange (18) at its lower edge, the glass (20) being fixed between the holding part (15) and the inward flange (18). Use of such additional ring (16) to hold the glass (20) avoids the problem of hardening and breaking of an inward flange formed directly on the main body for holding the glass (20). <IMAGE>
Description
TAIDThESS STEEL PAIT, LID :TIT,, GLASS WILLOW The present invention relates to a stainless steel pan lid with glass window for use in cooking pan.
Generally a cooking pan lid is formed in one body being made of light metal such as aluminum and aluminum alloy. In order to observe the state of the food being cooked, for example as shown in Fig. 5, a large-diameter glass window 101 may be formed in the center of the pan lid 100 made of light metal.
To process such glass window 101 as shown in Fig. 5, in the first place, a large-diameter hole 103 is provided in the pan lid main body 102 as shown in Fig. 6 (A), and the inner brim of the large-diameter hole 103 is folded inside as indicated by arrow X, and a downward extending tubular flange 104 is formed. Next,as shown in Fig.6(B), the upper part of the flange 104 is folded outward in the radial direction of the large-diameter hole 103, thereby forming a stepped part 105. Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 6 (C), a reinforced glass 106 is fitted into the stepped part 105 from beneath, and the lower edge of the flange 104 is crimped inward in the radial direction of the large-diameter hole 103 as indicated by arrow Z, thereby fixing the reinforced glass 106.
Recently, however, as consumers tend to prefer expensive goods, stainless steel cooking utensils are much favored, and, as a result, there is a growing demand for stainless steel pan lid with glass window.
But when a stainless steel pan head is processing in the method of Fig. 6, hardening of processing occurs in the step of forming the flange 104 in (C), and the lower edge of the flange 104 is broken when crimping. Accordingly, the shape as shown in Fig. 5 cannot be processed by using stainless steel, and the stainless steel pan lid with glass window could not be manuractured.
It is hence a prImary object of the inventIon to solve the above problems. Other objects and effects of the invention will be better understood and appreciated rom the following detailed description.
To solve the above problems, a first embodiment of the invention relates to a stainless steel pan lid with glass window comprising a stainless steel main body having a largediameter hole in the center, and a reinforced glass to be fitted into the large-diameter hole, wherein the main body has a holding part of which sectional shape is a pi-shape opening outward in the radial direction of the large-diameter hole, disposed integrally at the lower side of its inner brim, a stainless steel ring of which inner brim is fixed by this holding part is provided separately, and this ring integrally comprises a cylindrical glass fitting part extending downward from the outer brim, and an internal flange extending inward in the radial direction from the lower edge of the glass fitting part, and the reinforced glass is fixed between the holding part and the inward flange.
Other embodiment of the invention relates to a stainless steel pan lid with glass window comprising a stainless steel main body having a large-diameter hole in the center, and a reinforced glass to be fitted into the large-diameter hole, wherein the main body has a holding part of which sectional shape is a pi-shape opening outward in the radial direction of the large-alameter hole, disposed integrally at the lower side of its inner brim, a first ring of stainless steel of which inner brIm is fied by this holding part is provided separately, the first ring has a linkage part of which sectional shape is a pi-shape opening inward in the radial direction of the large-diameter hole, disposed integrally at the lower side of its outer brim, a second ring of stainless steel of which outer brim is fixed by this linkage part is provided separately, the second ring integrally possesses a cylindrical glass fitting part extending downward from its inner brim, and an inward flange extending inward in the radial direction from the lower edge of the glass fitting part, and the reinforced glass is fixed between the holding part and the inward flange.
Thus, according to the invention, since the inward flange of the ring holds the reinforced glass together with the holding part of the main body, the inward flange will not be hardened by processing in the fitting process of the reinforced glass. Therefore, by employing the invention it is possible to manufacture a pan lid with window having glass fitted in the stainless steel main body, and the merchandise suited to the recent high class trend may be mass-produced.
In this invention, moreover, since the stainless steel ring, or the first and second rings having the inner brim fixed by the holding part are provided only separately, the manufacturing process is not complicated, and inexpensive and rigid products may be presented.
The invention is descrIbed below by reference to the following drawings.

In the following embodiments, corresponding members are identified with same reference codes and duplicated explanations are omitted.
As shown in Fig. 1, the pan lid main body 10 of the invention is a stainless steel member with a plate thickness of about 0.5 to 0.6 mm, and a large-diameter hole 11 is formed in the center. The outer brim of the main body 10 has a cylindrical part 12 integrally extending downward therefrom. The lower edge of the cylindrical part 12 has a small-diameter fitting part 13 through a steppea part, anci this fitting part 13 is set in a shape to be fitted into the opening of the lid outside of the drawing.
At the edge part of the large-diameter hole 11, a holding part 15 is formed integrally with the main body 10. The holding part 15 has its sectional shape formed in a pi-shape opening outward in the radial direction of the large-diameter hole 11 as shown in an enlarged view in the upper part of
Fig. 1. The holding part 15 holds the inner brim of a ring 16 explained below.
The ring 16 is a stainless steel member with a plate thickness of about 0.5 to 0.6 mm, and integrally comprises a cylindrical glass fitting part 17 extending downward from the outer brim, and an inward flange 18 extending downward in the radial direction from the lower edge of the glass fitting part 17.
Numeral 20 is a reinforced glass, which possesses a plate thickness (for example, about 3.2 to 4.0 mm) and a material for sufficiently exhibiting the heat resistance and impact resistance. The reinforced glass 20 is fitted to the glass fitting part 17 from its lower side, and is held between the lower side of the holding part 15 and the upper side of the inward flange 18. Numeral 21 is a fitting hole pierced in the middle of the reinforced glass 20.
The manufacturIng process of the first embodiment of the invention is explained by referring to Fig. 2.
As shown in Fig. 2 (A), a large-diameter hole 11 is formed in the main body 10, and its edge part is bent to the lower side as indicated by arrow X. Then, as shown in Fig. 2 (B), the lower edge of the inner brim bent to the lower side in step (A) is bent outward in the radial direction of the large-diameter hole 11 as indicated by arrow Y, and it is crimped together with the inner brim of the ring 16 separate from the main body 10. As a result, the holding part 15 in a pi-shaped sectional form is formed, and at the same time the ring 16 is fixed by the holding part 15.
Next, as shown in Fig. 2 (C), the reinforced glass 20 is fitted to the glass fitting part 17 of the ring 16 from th-- lower side, and the vicinity of the outer circumference O- t.",e upper surface of the glass is abutted against the lower surface of the holding part 15.In this state, the lower edge of the glass fitting part 17 is crimped inward in to radial direction of the large-diameter hole 11 as i icateå by arrow Z, and the outer brim of the glass 20 is f~xea. As a result, the inward flange 18 is formed, and the otter circumference of the glass 20 is held between the Iwer side of the holding part 15 and the upper side of the flange 18, so as to be fixed firmly.
The surface of the main body 10 is treated by grinding the lie as required (for example, hairline processing).
In the second embodiment shown Fig. 3, the holding part 15 fixes the inner brim of the first ring 30 made of stainless steel. On the outer brim of the first ring 30, a pi-shaped section linkage part 31 is formed in a manner of being bent downward and open to the large-diameter hole II side, and by this linkage part 31 the outer brim of the second ring 32 of stainless steel is fixed. The second ring 32 comprises a cyllindrical glass fitting part 17 extending downward from its inner brim, and an inward flange 18 extending downward in the radial direction from the lower edge of the glass fitting part 17, all in one body, and the reinforced glass 20 is fixed between the inward flange 18 and the holding part 15.
The manufacturing process of the second embodiment is explained below by referring to Fig. 4.
As shown in Fig. 4 (A), the holding part 15 is formed on the main body 10, and the inner brim of the ring 30 is crimped. At this step, the ring 30 has a cylindrical flange 30a downward on the outer brim, and a radial gap L1 is formed between the end face of the holding part 15 and the inner circumference of the cylindrical flange 30a.
As shown in Fig. 4 (B), consequently, the ring 32 is disposed at the lower side of the main body 10, and the second ring 32 is fitted from the lower side opposite to the gap L1 as indicated by arrow A. In the glass fitting part 17 of the second ring 32, the reinforced glass 20 is preliminarily fitted, and the lower surface of its outer brim is support by the upper surface of the inward flange 18.
Finally, as shown in Fig. 4 (C), the cylindrical flange of the ring 30 is crimped inward in the radial direction as indicated by arrow Z. As a result, the ring 30 composes the first ring, and at the same time supports the outer brim of the second ring 32 by the linkage part 31 formed on its outer brim. Therefore, the first ring 30 is integrally supported by the main body 10 by the holding part 15, and the first and second rings 30, 32 are integrally linked to support the reinforced glass 20.
By employing this structure, when fixing the reinforced glass 20, it is not necessary to crimp the holding part 15 and the inward flange 18 directly by a press, and hence assembling process may be done without giving any large impac to the glass 20.
Some of the preferred embodiments of the invention are described in detail herein, but these are not limitative and may be freely modified or changed as far as not departIng from the true spirit of the scope of the claims mentioned hereinafter.
