Abstract
A lorry platform comprises a base structure (1), consisting of sections 11 and 12 and positioning ribs (13) and interconnecting hollow plates (2) which, as a whole, determine the base of the platform, these plates (2) being joined to the base structure by screws. A bushing (3) is provided for each screw and placed within the plate (2), aligned with openings (24) (31) in the top and bottom surfaces of the plate. Each hollow plate (2) has internal rigidisation walls (21) and outer formations (22), (23) for fitting together adjacent plates. Opening (24) is countersunk to accommodate the screw head, the bushing serving to keep the join between the plate and the base structure rigid. The plates and bushings are preferably of fibre glass reinforced polyamide. <IMAGE>
Description
0 Titlet An ImDroved Platform for Lorries Loading platforms are
inseparable from lorries and, therefore, as familiar as they are.
Current technologies in loading platform manufacture are, for example, a) to shape the platform by forming a single unit with the floor of the lorry. one big restriction with this technology is the difficulty of constructing it and this is even more noticeable when repairs need to be carried out; b) to shape the platform with a (generally wooden) "flooring" on its loading base. Limitations arise with this technology, apart from the low resistance afforded by the wood. when repairs need to be carried out.
The present invention involves an improved lorry platform, distinguished by the fact that it comprises a base structure on which. at intervals. positioning ribs are set out, between which are erected interconnecting plates which, as a whole, determine the base of the platform; and by the fact that these plates are joined to the base structure, a bushing being included in each of the joints, which is placed within the plate and which serves to keep this joint area rigid.
The use of the improved platform for current-make lorries facilitates the manufacture and assembly of and, where appropriate, repairs to the platform, as the connecting up of plates is done without using any tools and the assembly/disassembly between plates and the base structure only requires easy-to-handle threaded stud-bolts.
Figure 1 shows a raised section of the platform of a current-make lorry, Figure 2, in greatly enlarged detail, shows the means of fastening between each plate (2) and the base structure (1)y by using a bushing (3) which is shown in half-view and half-section.
The improved platform, for current-make lorries, consists of: - a base structure (1); - a number of plates (2); - a number of joints between plates (2) and base-structure (1) - At least two types of cross-sections (11.12) - terminal (11) and intermediate (12) - make up the base structure (1), connected between each other by supports (13), in relation to which an elevation (h), coincidental with the thickness or height of the plates (2), projects upward.
The plates (2) are long hollow sections delimiting internal rigidisation walls (21), and outer formations (22), (23), fitted together to make assembly between consecutive plates (2) possible.
At the joints (3) between plates (2) and base structure (1):
each plate (2) has openings (24), (25), facing one another; on each plate (2) and for each coupling required between plate (2) and base-structure (1) is a bushing (3) which. in turn, comprises:
an opening (31) laid coaxially with openings (24, (25); a sheave-hole (32) accommodated in opening (25); 1 c 1k a perimetral extension (33) which internally runs up against the corresponding wall of the plate (2).
By inserting a screw (not shown) into openings (24), (31)r plate (2) and base-structure (1) - support (13) - are reciprocally fastened.
In order to afford a flat external surface, each opening (24) is countersunk to accommodate the head of the corresponding screw.
The material used for the plates (2) and bushings (3) is preferably fibreglass reinforced polyamide.
