Abstract
The belt wrench is made with a handle 5 and a frame consisting of two sides 6 which incorporate a round fixed cross member 7 and a movable cross member 8. The belt 9 is fixed to the movable cross member 8. To apply the wrench to an object 10, the belt 9 is put round the object and threaded round and over the fixed cross member 7 and pulled tight onto the object 10. The handle 5 is then moved in the direction of the arrow 14. This action forces the fixed end of the belt 12 onto the fixed cross member 7 so trapping the loose end of the belt 11 between the fixed end 12 and the fixed cross member 7, thus creating a further tightening of the belt 9 and a turning motion in the object 10. <IMAGE>
Description
BELT WRENCH Tnis claim for a patent relates to a belt wrench, which work by the belt or tape when applied tightening onto the object to be turned and the friction created between the belt or tape and the object turns the object. The belt wrench in this application is designed to be a useful tool in the home and garage. It will grip objects like oil filter, bottle tops, jar lids, exhaust pipes, etc.
The belt wrench could be made in any size, shape and form or material, to accommodate the action whereby the cross member to which the belt is fixed, is free to move in such a way as to allow the fixed end of the belt to trap the loose end of the belt between itself and the fixed cross member.
The size of the belt wrench relates to the size of the object to be turned, ie if the world was the object, then the size of the moon might be appropriate for the size of the fixed cross member.
The drawing Figure 1 is a perspective drawing showing a shortened belt (9) fixed to the movable cross member (8).
The drawing Figure 2 shows a side view with the wrench, applied to an object (10). The dotted lines show the run of the belt (9) behind the side plate (6).
Description of the components using drawing Figure 1 the belt wrench consists of a handle (5), two sides (6), the function of which is to carry the handle (5) and the cross members () and (8). In the two sides are slots (13) in which the movable cross member (8) runs. It has a nylon weaved belt (9) which is attached to the movable cross member (8).
To apply the wrench using Figure 2, the belt (9) is put round the object (10) and threaded round and over the fixed cross member (7). The belt (9) is then pulled tight onto the object (10) by the loose end of the belt (11). The handle (5) is then pushed by the hand in the direction of the arrow (14). This action forces the movable cross member (8) with the belt attached down onto the fixed cross member (7), so trapping the loose end of the belt (11) between the fixed end of the belt (12) and the fixed cross member (7).
As the handle (5) is pushed further it creates a further tightening and a turning motion in the object (10).
Claims (1)
- CLAIMA belt or tape wrench of any shape, size and form, made in any material, whereby the belt is fixed to a movable member, which allows the fixed end of the belt to move and trap the loose end of the belt between itself and a fixed member.
